Liverpool
I can’t believe they thought they’ll do what we couldn’t do.

One big  for the company led by Denco that was convincing us how Chelsea aren’t a top team anymore and how we should be bitter for letting an “average team like Chelsea” to eliminate us. And of course, he was saying that Villareal would eliminate Chelsea.

Last but not least… let me quote this: “We should have paid 20m to Liverpool for Xabi Alonso”
WTF? We didn’t have and we didn’t need such profile of MC in our best years and we never had such a player until the summer of 2007 when we bought the ballerina.
Give me someone who bites, who dies on the pitch, I don’t want a primadonna.
He’s a good player but no-one in his right mind would pay more than 12-13m for him and Benitez was right when he wanted to get rid of him. (Which couldn’t be said about Sissoko).
Thanks Ranieri, or whoever was responsible, for not letting Liverpool to rip us off. We don’t need a player like Xabi Alonso. What we need much more is a Lampard type of MC.

Great job Chelsea.

I hate them both, I just hate Liverpool more.
I found the prospect of cheering alongside a stadium filled with pasty, beer-bellied doughboys more than a bit distasteful. But since Liverpool was the home side, I honestly found myself pulling for Chelsea for that reason.

It will certainly switch back to me rooting for Liverpool at Stamford Bridge for the same reasons...

Do you think they'll sell us Essien? Please!

I feel sorry for Burke, did anyone noticed how slow Alonso is comparing to Poulsen?
That's true, alonso is slower and lacks the physical strength that our poulsen posses.
I wasn't, poulsen is faster and more physical with a decent passing game, overall I believe he is a better player. He's way too underrated that's why most people barely rate him.
This is not true andy. You know where I stand when it comes to tiago who's technically more talented than poulsen. I just don't like alonso's game.
 :rofl2:

Am i missing on some inside joke here or are there really living people who rate Poulsen over Alonso?

Come on now Cyril, Cron you guys cannot be serious. Alonso is better than Poulsen in almost every aspect of the game. He's a brilliant organizer of the midfield, technically astute has a very wide range of passing and can hold his own defensively. He is a much more complete player than Poulsen and a much better player.

I'm not one of those people who doesnt rate Poulsen, on the contrary, i was very mad when we didnt go for him in the Summer, and i've said it a million times, i'd still love to have him at Arsenal. But to even compare him to Alonso?? Get the fuck outta here

I can't understand how top class sides can't defend set-pieces.

It just needs a wee bit of organisation and a willingness to attack the ball.

20M is a bit of a big sum thats true. But Rafa was definitely wrong when he thought he'd sell Alonso. Alonso has been one of Liverpool's best and most important players this season. He's the one that keeps their midfield intact and dictates the tempo.
Very unfair of you to judge him based on todays game, typical knee jerk reaction if you ask me.

As for the part about Sissoko, you're wrong there too. You seem to have forgotten how poorly Sissoko was playing in his last season and a half with Liverpool, he was losing the ball too much, he was incapable of keeping up with Liverpools pace and was generally inconsistent. Alonso was the better player of the pair, no two ways about it.

Give Rafa the choice between Alonso and Sissoko again and he'd take Alonso any day of the week. Even if Sissoko went back right now to Liverpool he wouldnt start imo

I wish he would have scored those goals against us, because we have a tendency to buy the player who disqualify us:jvefan:
Ivanovic is the type of full back i like, and i know that you like such full backs also.
Primarly a defender, always taking care of his side in defense, strong in set pieces and only when needed and when it's absolutely safe he goes in attack (What Thuram was doing).

But if we buy him 99% of the forum will hate him because he's not a Danny Alves type of full back and he doesn't make 100 crosses per match.

I didn't watch the Liverpool game, but I assume that they lost the midfield because they got bullied due to Mascherano's absence.

Alonso will struggle if he doesn't have a top class DM beside him.

That is true, he always played best when he had someone doing the dirty work for him.

They didn't lose the midfield until around the 60th minute. After Chelsea got the second goal. Basically without the two flubs in marking on the corner Liverpool would have been alright. Even though Aurellio and Arbeloa were really struggling at the time.

It would be idiotic not to want Ivanovic. I'd take him at Pool without hesitation.

What?
I am certainly not doing that. Alonso is very important for Liverpool now, but i'm almost 100% sure that Juve didn't need and doesn't need such a player and certainly not for 20m eur.
Unless we completely change the style and buy better and more offensive full backs, we won't need Alosno.

Of course, we also didn't need Poulsen (ok, we need a Poulsen as a sub for Sissoko, but we should've first bought a box to box midfielder, who scores a lot and does well defensively). I'm not saying that we did good buying Poulsen in front of Alonso. I'm saying that Alonso also wasn't needed in Juve as the WC expensive signing for our midfield.

You'd assume wrong. I thought they got killed on poor set piece defending.

Fair enough.

I only had it on the radio and they made it sound like Chelsea were in control from the point they equalised.
