Here's the problem....

UEFA makes a coefficient list for the the results made in the last 5 years. Next year and in 2010/2011 there will surely be 4 italian teams in CL , but the problem may happen in season 2011/2012.

Now the Italians have a coefficient 62.620 and they are third placed, while the 4th placed Germany has 54.445. The Germans can't pass the Italians even if they win all the remaining matches in CL and UEFA this season.
This points for this season (2008/09) count for season 2010/2011 (a little illogical and complicated, i know) so the Italians have no fear for the next 2 seasons.

But like i said, UEFA counts the last 5 seasons and since Italy had a good 2004/05 season, and that season won't be counted from next year, the advantage Italy has in front of Germany will be lowered and if next year the Germans do much better than the Italians, then Italy will lose the 3rd place and in season 2011/2012 Italy will have only 3 teams in CL.

Italians must do better than the Germans next year.
Wait, what parallel universe is this where we don't wish the worst for our domestic rivals? :confused2 I thought everyone here would be delighted for Juve to be a Dynamo Kiev type of club, the only remotely decent one in the whole country.

SO,

Milan winning the CL was really good for the Italian football :D
That CL final win brought exactly 0.375 pts to Italy. If Milan lost the CL final Italians would have had only 0.375 pts less than what they have now. Instead of 62.620, Italy would have now had 62.245 pts.
So, no, there wouldn't have been some big change if Milan lost the final.

Here are the top 5 standings Rab:

1. England 76.943
2. Spain 73.016
3. Italy 62.620
4. Germany 54.445
5. France 49.168

But if they had been knocked out in the first round..

Now, that's something else.

Every win in CL (no matter if it's group stages, quarter final, semi final, final) brings the same number of points. And every win in UEFA Cup brings the same number of points as a win in CL.
Looking from this perspective, a win against Anorthosis in the group stages brings the same uefa points as a win in the cl final against Liverpool.

Yes, Milan should bring points to Italian league by reaching to the CL final and then we'll generously ignore that trifling 0.375 points there :D
2005 CL final happening again would be orgasmic, but how do you expect me to survive the days between Milan's CL semifinal win and the CL final defeat?

Come on, it's definitely worth it.

There was partying in the streets when Rangers lost the UEFA Cup final to Zenit in May. :D

Oh, make no mistake, i'm willing to sacrifice 5 fingers on my hand, an eye and a leg to see Milan losing another final in the same fashion. But the possibility Milan to win the bloody final is what's gonna be killing me slowly in those 3 weeks between the semifinal and the final.

I know what you mean.

I had an exam the day after the UEFA Cup final, but was too nervous to study until I had seen Rangers lose.

How did you enjoy Celtic? :D
That was great too, because no-one rated Porto and so they all thought Celtic would win.

Cocky fuckers.

Rangers losing was better because the fans rioted afterwards and showed the world what a bunch of arseholes they are.

The enemies of your enemies sometimes happen to be your friends :D
Some Aberdeen fans take that view. I am not one of them.

But after the wish for a meteorite impact when Celtic plays Rangers, your second wish is Celtic to win, right?

It's the same with me when Milan plays Inter.
Unless the result of Milan-Inter has big importance to Juve and a Milan win is needed, i will always prefer Inter to win. (The last match between the two was kinda different, because for the first time in his Milan career i was cursing Inzaghi for being offside and i was cursing the linesman for seeing the offside).
