first of all, I'm glad chelsea are out because they really showed themselves to be a bunch of classless cunts, Hiddink aside. Drogba, Ballack in particular. true blights on football. Drogba had a great opportunity, did very well, but fucked up the finish, and spent the rest of the match being a big fucking hulk of a cunt.
Barcelona did their usual thing, but didn't play particularly well. Eto'o is wasted on the wing, Busquets had a very bad game, and Alves was horrendous. Messi didn't have the space to do anything, lets be honest, when you have no time on the ball, no space, and are being closed down by 3 or 4 very good defenders, even a love-child of maradon and pele would be hard pressed to do anything. Toure did pretty well all things considered, but he's clearly not a dentral defender. Pique also played well, but definitely could have conceded a penalty for that handball.
Chelsea showed that they are a bunch of top athletes, not footballers. Hiddink took a rather cautious approach, but there's no denying that it worked, especially since they got that early wondergoal from Essien. After that, it was clear they were just going sit back and hoof it to drogba and anelka. and it worked, let's be honest. Barca don't have a truly physical presence anywhere, and it showed, chelsea dominated them physically. Hiddink realized that barca could cut through terry and alex if left exposed, and he set chelsea up to make sure that the space was never there.
They never actually played football though. Effective, yes, but frankly it's better for the game that barca, despite their slightly one-dimensional approach, go through to face manure. It's also clear that unless Barca come up with a plan B, they will always struggle against top english teams, even english teams like Liverpool and manu that actually play the ball (blah blah blah, anyone wathing liverpool this year will have realized that they've started to become a decent passing team, so shut the fuck up)
as for all those penalties
I think the handball by Pique could have definitely been given, and Alves also could have given away a penalty when he knocked down malouda (i think), but the other two would have been very harsh, and considering the moronic decision to send Abidal off, tough luck on chelsea, but that's life. i just hope that your club learns from Hiddink's class, since right now chelsea have the biggest collection of sour losers i've seen in a very long time. They played a dangerous game, basically letting barca keep the ball, and hoping that drogba's presence up top would be enough, and i'm glad that they got punished.
