Van Nistelrooy Tells Lazio: We Will Qualify
Following last night’s disastrous 2-1 home defeat to Olympiakos, Lazio face the unenviable task of having to beat Real at the Santiago Bernabeu in a fortnight’s time to make the last 16.
The Spanish-giants, who lost themselves yesterday to Werder Bremen, only require a draw to progress, and Van Nistelrooy is in confident mood.
“Against Lazio we will have the full support of the Bernabeu and we will qualify,” the ex-Manchester United hitman declared.
“It’s good that qualification is in our own hands and it’s good that we are at home in the final game as we have won every game there.”
Van Nistelrooy’s team-mate Raul Gonzalez is also thinking positively and believes that home advantage will be key.
“We know that we just need to beat Lazio to secure qualification, but it’s a game that presents many dangers,” he insisted.
“Home advantage is a big boost for us, but we still need to stay fully concentrated against a side like Lazio.”
Lazio produced possibly their best display of the season against Real Madrid in Rome in October, and were unfortunate to only gain a 2-2 draw.
