Gattuso: Italians do it better!

Wednesday 23 May, 2007
Gennaro Gattuso has won the World Cup and Champions League. “That’ll teach those who say Italian football is in crisis!”

The battling Milan midfielder proved a key figure in both tournaments and wasted no time in answering his critics.

“That’ll teach those who say Italian football is in crisis! In one year we have won the World Cup and the Champions League. Some crisis, eh?”

The Rossoneri beat Liverpool 2-1 in Athens with a brace from World Cup winner Pippo Inzaghi to take the trophy for the second time in five years.

However, Gattuso does not see this as wiping away the agony of their Final lost to the Reds in Istanbul two years ago.

“That defeat will remain with us for all our lives. This is another trophy. Today we are celebrating and Liverpool are crying, the same way we did in 2005.”

actually Pennant was briefly touted as the next big thing in England when Arsenal signed him...i still remember there was a lot of hype about him...not dissimilar to Rooney...then he kinda lost his way with disciplinary issues and poor performances at Birmingham

IN a way or another Milan's win can affect the conflict in the Middle East positively. I think them winning again and again might in the end solve the whole problem.
Imagine Bashar, Junblat, Hariri, Olmart, Bush, Barzani, Bin Laden and Nasralla all wearing Milan t-shirt and singing hand in hand " Miiiiilan, Miiiiiilan , oooooOOOOOhhhh" :touched:

Classless comment by Gattuso.

He obviously has Scottish blood in his vein.

On Milan winning the trophy:

It is clear to me that, with the power of English media, Serie A or any other league would have been relegated to the secondary status had Liverpool on this year's CL with 3 EPL teams in CL Semi-Final. That means more foreign money, and widening fan-base for English teams, making it difficult for Juve to attract younger global supporter, and strenghtening its damaged prestige. Obviously you don't want next door neighbour to become too big, but when you compete for resources, it makes some sense to co-operate on a few matters, and not so in others. Obviously, if Juve is in CL, I wouldnt want Milan or Inter to progress becasue IMO they are better almost all teams, but since we are not, what we have to loose by Milan winning the CL, and what do we gain if Liverpool win the CL? Rivarly only matters when you actually got something to fight for, which we are not ATM. If you are talking about Inter, then it is different story. At least, they had the honour to put some points for Serie A, and get knocked out straight away.

In retrospect, I'm disappointed that Milan won. I know I vouched for them a week or two ago, but now I think that the fact they're in the tournament itself is horseshit.

Bozi won't like this.
Oh, I didnt mean to deride Scottish in anyway.

I was just referring to the Anglo-Celt rivarly, I just knew last year.

Its clear Rino isnt too fond of English people, since he has said similar things many times, implicitly directed at English, before.

I just dont think it was a supporitng comment.

cmon all the first half action from liverpool came from pennant

Well, I forgot about the first half. Yes. But in the second, I thought he was poor - not because he didnt lack effort, but he just isnt good enough to play in CL final.
Then again, I am half a sleep with lots of drinks for whole entire freaking night so give me a break.:D

Maybe Liverpool can complain to UEFA about how unfair it is for them to lose the trophy. Considering UEFA's rapport with Liverpool they might consider stripping Milan of the trophy to please their lovely Liverpool.
