Actually I would have started with Makelele or Essien next to Obi Mikel and would have left Sheva on the bench but Abramoshit would have complained. Such a shame a tactician like Mourinho can't take the liberty in choosing his team.

And the goal they conceded is fantastic, so there's no complaining here.

the English commentator said "What's wrong with Scholes? Doesn't he know that you can't play like that(rough play) especially against Italian players?:D"

HT Roma 1 - 0 Man Utd

Rodrigo Taddei has given rampant Roma the half-time lead against Manchester United after Paul Scholes was sent off.

The Giallorossi and the Red Devils crossed paths for the first time in their history, as Roma played in a European Cup quarter-final after 23 years. With David Pizarro suspended and Max Tonetto injured, Luciano Spalletti fielded a 4-1-4-1 system with Simone Perrotta in a deeper role and Cristian Wilhelmsson stepping in. Manchester United started with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in place of the injured Park Ji-sung.

Roma had a blistering start with a series of shots charged down from a corner and Wilhelmsson eventually drilling wide. John O'Shea's error forced Edwin Van der Sar to rush out and clear from Francesco Totti.

Paul Scholes brought down Marco Cassetti from 30 metres and Cristian Chivu curled the resulting free kick just past the near post with Van der Sar stranded. Christian Panucci fantastically stopped Cristiano Ronaldo with a sliding tackle and his cross for Perrotta was turned out for a corner.

Man U got forward for the first time on 12 minutes with Ronaldo, but Wayne Rooney's scuffed shot was comfortably caught by Alexander Doni. Van der Sar smothered a fierce but central Totti free kick and Doni bravely came out to pluck the ball off Rooney's feet twice in the space of 60 seconds.

Rio Ferdinand was punished for dangerous play on the edge of the area. Chivu and Daniele De Rossi rolled it for Totti and there were appeals for handball as it was charged down by the wall.

Scholes was booked for going through the back of Wilhelmsson and will be suspended for the second leg at Old Trafford. Wilhelmsson's first touch let him down on Totti's pass into the area and the former Juventus goalkeeper got to the ground to collect a Totti snapshot.

Mexes rather foolishly scuffed at his clearance and Doni had to flap it off Rooney's head. The resulting corner was cleared and Totti shrugged off Rooney, but Scholes blatantly tripped him to block the counter and a second yellow card was inevitable.

Chivu smashed a shot at Van der Sar from distance and Solskjaer's effort was charged down. Perrotta was booked for simulation and will miss the second leg.

Roma charged forward on 43 minutes and Van der Sar fingertipped a Rodrigo Taddei rocket round the near post. The resulting corner was not dealt with effectively and Amantino Mancini cut back for Taddei's follow-up, which took a decisive deflection to leave the 'keeper stranded. It was the Brazilian's second Champions League goal.

Moments later Doni fumbled the ball and Solskjaer came diving in, prompting a brief face-off between the two players.

Jacques, looks like you have something against Nabil nowadays :D
Do I? Is it about Arif's comment now? Nothing against Nabil there, I appreciate details and Arif just hit a nice detail there.

As for Nabil, it goes for you as well, fans who jump to defend Italian players give me the creeps. Grosso is an Inter player, he's a piece of rotten shit in my books, Nabil would defend him.

Totti is a good footballer but he's an asshole and a shame to all Italian football and what he did in the Euro is just wrong, still Nabil defends him

Inzaghi and Gilardino are worthless and Nabil defends them.

He ONLY defends them because they are Italian, which is not a criteria.
