This means we're going to have to face a team from the top seeded eight :wallbang:

When we rightly should be one of them :fero:

French side Lille will play their home Champions League games next season in Paris or Lens after being told by UEFA they cannot play in their stadium.

The Ligue 1 runners-up said in a statement both options were feasible and a final decision would depend on their draw.

Lille would prefer to play at the Stade de France in Paris and will do so unless they are drawn to play at home on December 6 or 7.

In that case they will play at Lens's Bollaert stadium because the Stade de France is unavailable on those dates and all home matches must be played at the same stadium.

Lens is a short drive from the northern city while Paris is an hour away by high-speed train.

Lille's own stadium is undergoing a facelift and they played last season in nearby Villeneuve d'Ascq, where they also wanted to hold their Champions League matches.

UEFA told Lille that would not be possible because the stadium, which has an 18,000 capacity, is too small and does not meet safety standards.

So Liverpool faces "Total Network Solutions FC "? :wth: That's not a team -- that's an advertisement with 22 legs! I get the Beyer Leverkusen thing and all, but this is ludicrous.

That's it. I'm going to Wales and dump a load of cash on some crap team just to name them "Sepp Blatter Can Kiss My Fat Hairy Ass FC".

So here are the league coefficient ratings:

Italy came in third because of the running average over the years. Not sure why the 2003 coefficient was so low with both Juve, Milan, and Inter in the final four of the CL that year...

That defines to me this system is about as much of a crock as Jethro Tull winning the Grammy for Best Metal band.

I find it funny that TNS are the same team that initially offered Liverpool a game before UEFA gave them the nod to play in the qualifiers. How come they got paired together?

TNS 0-3 Liverpool (Cisse, Gerrard, Gerrard)
    Liverpool advance 6-0 on aggregate

Liverpool survived a scare against Welsh minnows TNS before booking their spot in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League after a 3-0 victory at The Racecourse Ground.

Djibril Cisse's first half goal, and a double from Steven Gerrard, earned the holders a 6-0 aggregate success, and a date with FBK Kaunas next week.

Dietmar Hamann missed a penalty but, prior to Gerrard's late salvo, TNS were denied by the post and also had a goal unjustly disallowed for offside.

Liverpool kept last week's hat-trick hero Gerrard on the bench and, minus the influence of their captain, the reigning champions lacked real purpose.

Cisse's pace was a constant thorn to TNS but the hosts were competitive in the first half, with John Toner failing to take advantage of an early half chance.

Gerrard Doherty performed admirably in the first leg at Anfield and the TNS keeper was alert on 11 minutes when he blocked Cisse's shot with his legs after the Frenchman again used his speed to good effect.

Xabi Alonso was off target from 25 yards and John Arne Riise thundered a free kick wide before Liverpool made the breakthrough on 26 minutes.

Riise's deep cross should have been cleared by Chris King but, when the TNS defender mis-kicked, Cisse pounced to hit a crisp, low shot into the corner of the net.

A second goal was almost forthcoming on 34 minutes when a clever pass from Hamann played in Anthony Le Tallec but his shot was cleared off the line by Philip Baker.

TNS started the second half sluggishly and were almost punished by a rare goal from Jamie Carragher but the stand-in skipper's far post header was brilliantly pushed out by Doherty.

The ball only ran to the edge of the area where Jamie Wood clumsily bundled over Darren Potter but Hamann's tame penalty was smartly saved by the impressive Doherty.

The TNS shot-stopper, who could arguably do a job in the Football League, performed more heroics when keeping out Steve Finnan's drive with his legs before the Welsh champions almost stunned Liverpool by scoring an equaliser.

Following a move worthy of The Premiership, TNS worked the ball to Steven Beck in space and he struck a sweet shot with the outside of his boot, which rebounded off the post for Toner to blaze the follow-up over.

Liverpool brought on Gerrard but it was another substitute - Luis Garcia - who tested Doherty next, with the Spaniard's piledriver beaten away by the home keeper.

TNS did put the ball in the back of the net on 75 minutes via Marc Lloyd-Williams' clean finish but the prolific striker's goal was harshly ruled out for offside.

Gerrard has been the only truly stand-out performer for The Reds in the tie and he scored twice in the last five minutes, the first after a surging break from midfield and the second after collecting Garcia's pass and squeezing a shot beneath Doherty.

The final scoreline told a flattering tale and Benitez's promise to rest Gerrard more often this season may be severely tested unless the holders find another source of inspiration when the opposition becomes tougher.
