Quartet await Euro draw
Thursday 26 August, 2004
Milan, Inter, Roma and Juventus will today find out who they will play in the Champions’ League.
The draw for the group stages takes place in Monaco this afternoon with Serie A having four sides represented.
None are set for an easy draw though given that all of the clubs are only second seeds after last season’s disappointments in Europe.
That means they could be drawn against giants such as Porto, Real Madrid, Valencia, Deportivo La Coruna, Barcelona, Manchester United, Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
However, they won’t face Chelsea or Liverpool given that the two Premiership sides are also in Pot 2.
Pot 1: Porto (Por), Valencia (Spa), Barcelona (Spa), Bayern Munich (Ger), Deportivo La Coruna (Spa), Arsenal (Eng), Real Madrid (Spa), Manchester United (Eng).
Pot 2: Liverpool (Eng), Milan, Inter, Roma, Juventus (Ita), Lyon (Fra), Chelsea (Eng) Panathinaikos (Gre).
Pot 3: Celtic (Sco), Monaco (Fra), Anderlecht (Bel), Ajax (Hol), PSG (Fra), PSV Eindhoven (Hol), Bayer Leverkusen (Ger), Sparta Prague (Cze).
Pot 4: Rosenborg (Nor), Werder Bremen (Ger), Olimpiakos (Gre), Fenerbahce (Tur), Dinamo Kiev, Maccabi Tel Aviv (Isr), CSKA Moscow (Rus), Shakthar Donetsk (Ukr).
