Laporta Wants "Renovation", But Insists On Ronaldinho, Eto'o Stay

Barcelona president Joan Laporta is keen to turn the current title loss around immediately by plugging the holes in the team.

A rather up and down season finally ended trophy-less for Barcelona, bringing them crashing down after the La Liga and Champions League double last season.

President Joan Laporta pointed towards a renovation, but was quick to insist that decisions would be taken with a cool head.

"The important thing is to renew our commitment, desire, and professionalism," he told TV3.

"However this group has given us years of glory, and it is important that decisions are taken in a calmer atmosphere."

The obvious question was regarding the futures of Samuel Eto'o and Ronaldinho, both of whom have been linked extensively with a move away.

"They are both players who set the standards for this team, and we want them to continue," Laporta responded.

He also refused to be drawn on the prospect of landing Thierry Henry: "The team neads a renovation. We will speak of names when the time comes.

"What we want is to create the most competitive team possible, with lots of desire and commitment.

"We must put together the pieces of the jigsaw; we must rebuild the machine. And yes, under Rijkaard! That is our desire."

It is understood that Thierry Henry, Christian Chivu, Yaya Toure, and Eric Abidal are the four players at the top of Barcelona's list.

Do you think if he holds it there long enough, they'll somehow win the title?

:D

last night micheal (cuti) said he read some where on the internet that some guy jumped off his roof wearing a barca shirt with the letters M.E written on the back of the shirt.

Your anti-Barcelona sentiments can be compared to Badass_Devil's anti-Inter sentiments. Which means your love for Valencia is limited to your hate towards Barca, and that's sad.
M-Elyaan is probably responsible for half of Barca hate around this board. After all, this has been traditionally Anti-Real, Pro Barca. M-Elyann knows how to make or friend or two.:D

Capello has really proved himself to be one of the top managers in the past 2 decades.I have to say wherever he goes he wins trophies:shocked:

I dont like Real at all, but this time it will be an exception due to the fact that it cost Barca the title. The CL final is still fresh in my mind, and since that day I always wanted Barca to feel what we felt that day. Also hated their players antics that day, in particular when they were waving imaginary cards to the ref for Lehmann's foul. Anyway isnt it ironic that an Arsenal boy stopped them from winning?:p

Lehmann's foul was a red-card. What makes you think if Barca scored that goal, Arsenal would have beaten them regardless of what? And Eboue dived for that goal anyway. And talking about antics, I don't think Arsenal fan should be talking about others. Though I would admit watching M-Eleyyan's face after Diarra's goal would have been priceless.:D

Eto'o was offside for Lehmanns foul......And why do you think Arsenal fans shouldnt be talking about diving??Granted Eboue is a diver, but who else???If its someone who shouldnt be talking its juve fans....at least we dont fix matches:disagree:

I think that Real Madrid's board is facing a problem now. They want to sack Capello because the fans don't like the team's performance, and on the other hand if they sack him they can't find easily a coach who can guarantee stability and immediate trophies.
Whoa!!
Empty-handed Empty- handed

he he he empty handed
you are very funny

Go back to sleep :disagree:

That;s his job, no matter what Idiot or an ass he is sometimes, he still is a winner, and a coach with a great career. Like every other managers in the world, he can have bad times as well, one of them was with us at his last months, even thou he ended up with winning a scudetto.

In your face, Capello haters.

Oh yeah! thou you will be hated now for saying these, I have a huge experience with this.

Van Persie, Henry to just name a few. I had this conversation long time ago with other poster so I won't go into details. And it derails the purpose of this thread. Whether they fixed the game or not, Juve players, with few exceptional cases, showed tremendous professionalism on and off the field. If you can't see that Del Piero, Nedved, Buffon, Thuram, Canna, Zambrotta, Emerson's quality on and off the field, then I feel sorry for you. These are players who knows how to behave when they win the match (See Inter). To suggest that they needed ref's help to win is just ridiculous. And if you think EPL is clean, well I pity for you. West-Ham? That was a sure fire relegation, but when TV right means more than any notion of justice, it probably was easy decision on the part of EPL. How they have the audacity to claim to be "model" of justice et all is beyond me.
