Game over for Capello

Real Madrid end Capello reign

Real Madrid President Ramon Calderon has conceded Fabio Capello will not stay on next season. “It was a mistake.”

The former Roma and Juventus Coach was picked up in the summer following the Calciopoli scandal, but has been unpopular with players and fans alike.

Ronaldo and Antonio Cassano have been his most vocal critics within the squad, while results – including their second round Champions League exit to Bayern Munich – have led to calls for Capello’s resignation.

Although he has refused to make way and there are reports a clause in his contract would give him a golden handshake deal should he be fired within the first year, it is now all but official that it is his last season at the Bernabeu.

“It was an unfortunate choice,” Calderon told newspaper ‘Reforma’. “The fans are not very happy due to some of our disappointing performances.

“Capello had to deal with a club that had won nothing for three years and that was ever going to be easy, but we were unlucky.”

Always looking ahead, the Real Madrid President has already namechecked some of the candidates contacted to replace Don Fabio.

“We spoke to Schuster right from when I was only running for the Presidency, but we are keeping an eye on Rafa Benitez and Jose Mourinho.”

Milan’s Carlo Ancelotti has also been suggested by the media as a possible successor to Capello.

Ronaldinho invites Milan move Saturday 24 March, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ronaldinho has spoken publicly about his hopes of joining Milan to play alongside Brazil teammate Kaka.

“I am happy at Barcelona, but in the future you never know what will happen,” said the 2005 Ballon d’Or winner.

The Rossoneri have made absolutely no secret of their intention to make a huge summer bid for Ronaldinho, with vice-President Adriano Galliani assuring they are “in super pole position should he leave Barca.”

Fellow Selecao stars Ronaldo and Kaka have also confirmed they rang up the player to recommend a move to the San Siro.

“It was a nice gesture,” he smiled. “Playing with Kaka is absolute pure joy.”

The two players are currently together for international duty in a tour of Sweden and it is the perfect opportunity to file away the final doubts.

“We have spoken about Milan and will do so again during this tour. But do not ask me for miracles,” confessed Kaka.

“I have many wonderful things to tell him, but after that it is down to the club to enter the fray.”

Milan are stepping up their bid for Ronaldinho after rumours that Inter were trying to intervene and snatch away the superstar.

Reports suggest that Nerazzurri director Marco Branca called up agent Roberto Assis – Ronaldinho’s brother and also agent of Milan striker Ricardo Oliveira – to discuss the possibility of their own proposal.

These claims were given credence by Rossoneri President Silvio Berlusconi. “If Ronaldinho leaves Barcelona, then we are taking him. The buy-out clause in his contract is not a problem. The important thing is to snatch him away from Inter.”

It’s believed that Ronaldinho’s buy-out clause for his contract that expires in 2010 is a staggering £84m.

I read that Silvio Berlusconi wants Capello to coach Milan. Also, Calderon has been interested in Ancelotti's services at Madrid. Maybe both coaches will change their positions from the next season.

part of me want him to win and then leave them, just to show them and their fans how bad they are.
another part want barcelona to win just so the guys here would be pissed off :D .

at the end of the day the team that will win would've earned it anyway it goes.

I want Sevilla to win it all the way, but I think that Maher would be glad if Barca crown the champion, so why not?

i dont think he would want to go back after the way they treated him last time.

atm the world's most prestigious club has the most unwanted job imo
He still cares about the club
that was evident when he called them n urged them to keep Ronaldo

He even said he would take the job if Capello were to be disposed of

I was stunned when they sacked Del Bosque.and the reason they gave was that 'He didnt win the CL',and to add to the wounds,it was on the day Real won the league.

He is probably the one person who can make Real rise again.
