Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello and midfielder Guti are the latest pair to have an open training ground row as the club lurches from one mini-crisis to another.
The argument took place as the squad were being put through their paces behind closed doors at the Valdebebas training ground, though was captured by Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.
After picking up an injury shortly before the end of the session, Guti, one of the senior figures in the Madrid squad, walked back to the changing rooms, though was promptly halted by Capello, who shouted:
"Where are you going? Come back here right now! The training session hasn't finished yet!"
Guti refused to return though, and replied: "Can't you see I'm injured? I'm going to the dressing room."
"Guti, I'll remind you that it's me who gives the orders around here. Either you come back to the training session, or you'll go to s***," retorted the Italian, though Guti remained unimpressed, insisting:
"No, no, I'm not coming back. I'm off to the dressing room, and you're the one that's going to s***."
A frosty discussion between the two ensued, before Guti finally relented, and returned to train with his team-mates.
The club are likely to hit him with a heavy fine, while it remains to be seen whether Capello will include him in the squad to face Levante on Sunday.
Earlier this season, Antonio Cassano was fined and left to train on his own for two weeks after insulting Capello in the wake of a match, while the same player was then castigated by the coach for being overheard complaining about team selection alongside Mahamadou Diarra.
Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon was last month forced to issue apologies to David Beckham and the rest of the Real Madrid squad after receiving an earbashing from a number of players for derogatory comments made to the press.
