I have this Latin America Geography class in which I am required to pen a term paper. The topic is open, but is required to cover Latin America, the Caribbean or Central America/Mexico.

So far I have narrowed my list of possible topics down from about 20. I know there are some historians roaming this place, so I thought I'd "throw a rock at the night and hope it bleeds light". What do you guys think I should do?

Here are the remaining topics:

1) Rain Forest coffee production in Costa Rica
2) The Rise and Fall of Haiti
3) Peru Before the Incas
4) A History of Patagonia
5) History of Oil Production in Latin America

Right now I'm leaning toward doing The Rise and Fall of Haiti.

Any input is welcome. I've got until Wed to come up with the topic.
I'd take Haiti or rain forest coffee production in Costa Rica. The latter looks like your best bet IMO. The thing is though that these subject are quite broad and I'm not sure what sources you could use for them. The history of oil production in Latin America seems quite doable, but will be a lot of work. Peru before the Incas is something I wouldn't do, because it would be difficult to study the sources themselves. You'd be stuck with the literature. A history of Patagonia looks like something you write a book on, not a paper.

Number 5.

Interesting subject (from my limited knowledge of it) and sounds a more managable size than some of the other options.

Well folks, I've decided to discuss the rise and fall of Haiti and it's impacts on the Caribbean region. Basically I made the choice because of the information available to me at the University library.

First order of research: time to get your ass down there for spring break and get LAID.

Then you can never donate blood again.

I just found out I really can't donate blood. Had malaria a few times. In a weird way this bothers me a lot. As if my blood isn't good enough :D.

Yes, which would be a discussion about the commodities coffee and crude oil. :D

Do the easiest one where you can find the most information on.
You wanna stay on topic. You can talk about what ever you like, but you HAVE to answer the question and that means not losing track and wasting time and marks on other topics.

I guess 5) would be my preference.
