You're right about his playing style, but still you forgot his ability of bringing immediate success.
He's not a success at all in Champions League. International Matches are diff than league matches (La Liga, Serie A etc) In these leagues he plays one system for all 38matches, this can't be done this way on International Level. Unless England are in a group with some easy NT's, IMO.

Capello: Terry, Ferdinand and Crouch stay to discuss the tactic of our next game.

Beckham: WTF what about us?

Capello: Shut up or I'm going to throw the next sport shoes I see at at your forehead... go and have fitness training or whatsoever.

Ferdinand: So!

Capello: Now here is the plan... you both provide lonely Crouch with long balls which he will convert to goals.

Crouch: Sounds great.

Terry: hmmm... but what shall we do if long balls didn't serve as expected.

Capello: Nothing, just play it again.

Maybe you're right but I'm still sure he would be better choice than any england manager.

Capello, Mourinho and Lippi are the 3 main candidates, but i believe they will surprise us again, there is no hope for the English NT, everybody knows that...
mourinho wants a day to day club role so thats him out of contention, he wont be a NT manager for years to come. lippi cant speak the lingo, capello is the most enthusiastic about the job, loves english style of management and he suits england perfectly cause that means more failures to come :D :weee:

more failure because of his old fashioned style of play does not suit continental football anymore, as shown with juve and madrid in recent years. and if england are to succeed they need a manager who can play continental football. someone more like wenger.
Capello won two Scudetti with Juve then he went to win La Liga title with Madrid, WITH his old fashioned style of play.

Anyways, my guess goes out to Capello as well.

You can call it anything but a failure when you win three consecutive titles in two of the very best leagues in Europe.
and his embaressments in europe talking cl football here in the past few years were a success story too? so because he can win la liga and serie A titles thats the same as playing international teams with different style of play? no if capello cant even cut it in cl football anymore then he cant cut it coaching international football.
