I also think he'll end up at one of the Milan teams. As for having it much easier, I don't know. If history is anything to go by, he won't, but who knows?
I just think it will be easier for him back in Italy. Especially in Milan around people and places he knows. Maybe it will keep him a bit more focused. But he's the type of guy who is always going to be a loose cannon. We'll just see if he can keep it from being as disastrous as it was this year.

"Liverpool and the 15th, that gets on my tits that shit. What are you talking about, 'We won't play on the day'? Why can't they? My mum died on 22 August. I don't stay in all day on 22 August. Do they play on the date of the Heysel Stadium disaster? How many dates do they not play on? Do Man United play on the date of Munich? Do Rangers play on the date when all their fans died in that disaster whatever year that was – 1971?"

- Alan Davies

He's right. Just a typical case of Liverpool's victim mentality and over-playing unfortunate events.
I've never really understood that. Having lived through and played on 9/11 doing the same on the Hillsborough date doesn't seem disrespectful to me. I understand people do this big memorial thing, but footie could easily be a part of it.

Insane to think that, but the stats are compelling.

In the 11 games Gerrard has started, Liverpool have scored an average of 1.00 goal per game while conceding 1.36; without him it is goals for 1.24, goals against 0.90. They have taken 1.67 points per game without him, just 0.73 with. Project that over a season: without Gerrard, Liverpool would get 63 points, which last season would have seen them finish fifth; with Gerrard, they would get 28, certain relegation form.

Stats aside, Gerrard is usually our best player on the pitch even when the rest of the team play like shit. I think it's more a case of the rest of the team fading, just when he's coming on. We haven't been scoring consistently, even when Stevie was injured. Suarez, Kuyt, Carroll, Maxi have all done pretty poor in that respect this season. The biggest loss was Lucas, who has the ability to cover the entire central midfield. Though I think Henderson does way better when given a central role instead of on the wing.

All that article says to me is that Lucas may be a more important player for Liverpool than Gerrard is.

Even if it was true that Gerrard was harming the team performance, I'd be blaming Dalglish for not not setting the team up properly, because - as you've said - Gerrard is still probably Liverpool's best player.
