No racial abuse in England?

Lots of xenophobics over there.
It happens about 5 or 6 times a season. The police keep the statistics, so it's public record.

On an entirely unrelated note (to the current conversation). I find the UK's handling of the racism issue to be hugely entertaining. I suspect it's much like they feel whenever we have a major election. I've read so many articles on racism by UK media over the last month and I find the understanding to be fairly laughable and ironic. Mainly the attitude toward "other places" and the reality that the UK is about as racially diverse in places of authority (sport and others) as Serbia.

I really only trust Aussies, Americans, and South America to fully understand the nuances of racism. Simply because those are the most racist populations on the planet.

Speaking as someone who actually goes to English games, I hear racist comments from individuals quite often. I've even sat next to someone who shouted the most ridiculous abuse at an Asian player I'd ever heard. You expect that from a minority, as you will have morons, and people drink a fair bit before they go to games.

You won't get large crowds of people doing it, because not only do ethnic minorities make up a part of that crowd but society treats racism as such a taboo subject. It's only the BNP sympathisers and general far right who might pipe up with the odd chant or comment. Still, things have progressed a lot since the 60s and 70s. So yes, England is miles ahead of many countries in that respect.

In terms of ethnic diversity in authority, it is quite ironic how the subject of the lack of black coaches and managers in England cropped up (again) before the Evra-Suarez and Terry-Ferdinand cases, and then the other spiral cases that emerged afterwards.

I think the majority of cases pursued by the police are individuals. But for some reason you don't really here a lot about those cases.

Yeah. It is quite funny when all the white people shout racism.

And of course a lot of the cases are not reported, I'd say over 90% of them given what I have heard against official figures.
