Bale was quiet in the game barring that counter attack, i'm not sure if you're saying that Bale was better than Luka yesterday, but if you are, i strongly disagree.
Modric played his part for the whole 90 minutes, and while VDV was the decisive player yesterday, without Modric's work rate and defensive work yesterday, in addition to him rarely losing possession and passing the ball around pretty well, i doubt Tottenham would have been able to resist Villa's pressure.
Villa's problem yesterday was Carew and Heskey's(he played with an injury, when he was on the pitch) absence. Downing and Albrighton did well to get many crosses in the box, but there was nobody there able to compete with Dawson and Kaboul in the air.
Btw, did you watch United's game? Your boy Berbatov was amazing, not only did he score the two goals, he played very well too. Did you see his insanely sublime backheel dribble on the right with Bardsley?

I just watched the highlights, that pass was just breathtaking. He opened up half the pitch for Hutton to run onto, even that football anti-talent couldn't mess it up.

He basically told the reporter "don't be ridiculous, he's half the team and one of the best players in the world in his position. If we start selling players like him, we'd be doing a football suicide." He's spot on, Tottenham has got a lot of things going for them, if they keep this squad together, they could really go a long way in the future.

Well, we have absolutely no excuse today, this is the first time in 2 years where injuries against Chelsea aren't too bad, over the past two years we had to play players like Silvestre, Armand Traore, Diaby, Denilson etc against Chelsea. That always gave Arsenal fans an excuse to use; injuries. Today, Arsenal fans have absolutely no excuse to use if we lose yet again against Chelsea.
I don't think Squillachi and Koscielny(hoping Djourou will play instead) can handle Drogba. But i'm hoping that Cesc and Wilshere can hold enough of the ball to limit how the service Drogba can get, thats our only hope.

), Pompey used to play some pretty good football under him, and he's doing the same at Tottenham, not your typical English coach at all. If Tottenham keep reaching the CL, i don't see why they can't hold this team together, this season is decisive for them, they have to reach the CL imo. If not, then they're going to face an uphill battle to keep the likes of Modric, VDV and Bale.
To be frank, he needs to start with Chamakh to upset the Chelsea defence- which I believe to be fragile- and RVP behind, with plenty of width to attack with speed and mobility. This speed and mobility is where the game will be won, as Chelsea are rather static.

You're right, us playing possession football will cause our undoing. But thats the problem, i doubt Wenger will change his game plan for this one, we will try to outpass Chelsea yet again, and get outmuscled in midfield and killed on the counter attack. We need our backline + Song to have the game of their lives for us to get a result today.
I don't agree that Chamakh should play today, i think his biggest asset is his aerial threat, and that can be easily nullified by the likes of Ivanovic and Terry. His movement is quite good too, but he misses too many chances, and we can't afford that today, as chances will most probably be scarce.

He's always been an attacking manager, which is why attacking players will naturally blossom under him. It's just now he is at a club with the resources to challenge at that higher level. I find his philosophy entertaining but naive. In the PL he has better players than probably 16/20 teams so he'll do fine there, eventually CL teams will suss the approach of these newcomers out and then we'll see what he has up his sleeve and if he really is a fantastic manager. Also if he gets his coveted England job, as the only credible English manager.
I watched both games, and not saying Bale was better, but that they played well as a team in overall. Tottenham won without really impressing, they were forced to play discplined and play out the time due to the harsh red card. Modric did alot of work, but the best player is naturally for me the guy who scored 2 goals in 2 chances basically. But yeah Modric is most important in overall, the key that makes their quick counterattacking team work, very neat and tidy creator.
And yeah saw United game, Sunderland were bit meh, but Man U are really getting into shape (weird thing to say when they havent lost yet), and yeah saw that bit, Berbagod is sublime. Also liked how confident and up to par Anderson was in this game, prolly breaking into a real nice season.
