90k is well under what he made a Chelsea.
Don't think so.

It's less than he was asking for to sign a new contract at Chelsea, but I reckon he was probably on around £70k per week.

I though he would go to Spurs, because I wasn't sure he would leave London. I'd be interested to know how much more Liverpool offered him than Spurs did.

I think thats why he didn't end up with us.

That's what I meant. He wanted more than 100k. I'm guessing this is where the Benayoun money is going.

More importantly I think it's a step in the right direction for the club if we want to keep Nando and Stevie.

Barcelona play an extremely offensive formation, of course Zlatan will score goals. If they put Bojan and played him the same amount of games as Zlatan, he probably would have had a similar record. Fact of the matter is Zlatan was ruining Barca's plays too much last season, which is why at the end of the season, he was benched a few times, even when he was fully fit.

I think there is no argument that Zlatan was just not good enough last season, and the comparison of statistics to DP in 2008-2009 is misleading.
The fact remains the same. In one of his worst seasons he scored and assisted as much as Juve's topscorers and assistmen do in their best seasons.

As much as his style doesn't fit Barca, as bad as he played, and he did, and as out of position as he played, for an ultra attacking team or not, he scored and assisted more than everyone in Juve last year. That can not be argued.

Things equal out. Zlatan played out of position, Diego and Del Piero didn't. Zlatan played for a new team, so did Diego. Zlatan played for an attacking team, Diego and Del Piero play for a team that is attacking and is a favorite against 90% of the opposition. In the end, he scored and assisted more than both of them, he lost his place, deservedly, they did not. They were actually the best Juve had, even though they both sucked just as much as Zlatan.
That's what I mean by the huge difference between the two clubs right now.

Thats a little too superficial, things don't equal themselves out. DP is way past it, so i wouldn't consider him in this debate, Diego played for a non functioning team, there is nothing that could equal that, especially for a playmaker like Diego. He probably would have done well for Barca.

Zlatan was played out of position, but really what did he expect? Everyone and his mother knows that Barca play a 4-3-3, they don't change that, when he came to Barca where did he expect to play? Where can he play other than as a forward? He went to Barca knowing that he was going to be played as the center forward, he didn't play well, and inevitably for a player who is imo rather weak mentally like Zlatan, he stopped playing well, and sometimes looked incapable of even the most basic control of the ball(keeping in mind that Zlatan is one of the best players in the world right now in terms of ball control)

90k is well under what he made a Chelsea. It's a good signing for us, surprising as well. Probably, means Gerrard is going to stay. Figured he'd end up at Arsenal.
Why's that?

I read about this 'reliable source saying he would be Madrid's new number 10 :D

Diego too knew that Juve don't play his favorite formation and that if they change it for him, then he will need to shine. What did he expect? He was the one who was supposed to make the others play better and he didn't. He failed too. Even in the assists department he did worse than Zlatan, whose job as a target man wasn't to assist goals. The comparisons are pretty fair, imo. Both failed.

I don't know what is it that you don't understand. There is nothing wrong in the claim that one of Barca's worst players did better than Juve's best player and that shows the difference between Barca and Juve. A difference which is obvious to every football fan. Especially if you know that Barca's worst, or one of the worst players, will drastically improve Juventus.

I don't see why Cole would sign if Gerrard wasn't going to be here.

And there's no such thing as a 'reliable source' when it comes to transfer season media.:D

I think we're moving around in circles here :D

- Zlatan is better than all Juve's players currently, there is no question about that at all. We both can agree on that i believe, what i disagree with, is comparing Diego and Zlatan's statistics. Why i disagree with that is for the exact thing you just said "The obvious difference between Barca and Juve". For that reason statistics exaggerate the difference between Diego and Zlatan grossly imo.

I guess it depends on what Cole was offered elsewhere, seems strange when he said he wanted to stay at a CL team though, maybe he knows more.

Personally I think Madrid will try to get Gerrard, he has to make a decision but it wouldn't surprise me if both he and Torres stayed, I think Mascherano will leave though.

It's going to be hard for Madrid. They'll probably not want to pay more than 30 for him.
