Former Arsenal great, Robert Pires, now age 36, has been allowed by Arsene Wenger to train with his old Arsenal team-mates.
The French midfielder is currently without a club after leaving Spanish club Villarreal and will be training at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground in order to keep his fitness levels up.

Pires made a total of 189 career appearances for the Gunners and scored a total of 62 in his illustrious career.

Pires normally operates on the left wing but can also play all across the midfield or in a position to support the striker.

Liverpool Football Club tonight issued the following press statement:

The Board of Directors have received two excellent financial offers to buy the Club that would repay all its long-term debt. A Board meeting was called today to review these bids and approve a sale. Shortly prior to the meeting, the owners - Tom Hicks and George Gillett - sought to remove Managing Director Christian Purslow and Commercial Director Ian Ayre from the Board, seeking to replace them with Mack Hicks and Lori Kay McCutcheon.

This matter is now subject to legal review and a further announcement will be made in due course.

Meanwhile Martin Broughton, Christian Purslow and Ian Ayre continue to explore every possible route to achieving a sale of the Club at the earliest opportunity.

Hicks and Gillett don't want to sell the club?
They don't have any choice.

Options, are far as I can tell are:

1. Pay the debt it owes to the banks (they can't afford to do this);
2. Renegotiate the debt with the banks (the bank won't do this again);
3. Sell the club; or
4. Do nothing before October 15th and the bank will seize the club and sell it itself.
