Wenger will never spend on a keeper, i just hope one of our young keepers is good enough. I don't think its fair to judge Mannone yet.

Wenger will never spend on anything. Seriously, getting young talent and making them stars is all fine and dandy but sometimes you need to spend big.

I don't even want him to spend that big, i was pretty content with him pre 2006 when he used to buy players for 10-15M. But now he doesn't even address problems anymore. We sell Flamini on the back of a decent season that saw us top the league till March, and reach the quarters of the CL, instead of building on what was a promising team, he decided to give a chance to two unproven and not so talented youngsters in Denilson and Diaby.

Also instead of addressing the goalkeeping problem, he has been trying to promote from within for the past 3 years. Looks like its going to be a fourth year losing points because of silly goalkeeping mistakes.

Time to let "Le Professeur" go?

No, but seriously he should start spending a little, i know he likes to keep finances balanced but i'm pretty sure he has atleast 20m to spend.

I wouldn't mind letting him go as much as i love him, if we were guaranteed a decent manager. But as things stand, funds are not available because of the loan we incurred from building the stadium. I'm sure we can spend if we wanted to, but our board are known to be senile old greedy fucks. So i'm not sure what manager other than the world class ones could keep us in CL under such restricting conditions.

My main qualm with Wenger is that i'm sure he can get much more funds from the board if he really wanted to(they trust him almost blindly), but he's not doing it.

If he ever leaves Arsenal he should coach the French NT

But Arsenal earns more than what they spend, shouldn't the debt be covered by now or atleast be minimal?

As i said, he has a solid base, if only he fixed a thing here and there you would be a team to fear.

No of course the debt isn't covered, i can't remember the exact number but i think that we pay around 6-9M a year to pay off the debt. Our yearly profit before tax is around 26-34M iirc. I'm not sure how much that becomes after tax, around 16-20M i believe?

Of course then theres dividends to shareholders and all that, i don't think at the end of the day we have 20M to spend, most of the time we have to sell players or let players with high wages go to get more money to spend in the transfer window.

Was an important player for Fulham, will be hard to replace him.

As for Pool, well it doesn't make much sense, replacing Insua with Konchesky. I thought Insua was no longer wanted because he wasn't good enough a defender?
Most Pool fans feel Insua should be be kept. There are two rumors behind the switch, first is that Insua wanted to go and second that Hodgson just doesn't rate him.

Me too, i was talking to Aaron some days ago about that. I'm sure Liverpool can do better than him. Besides, he's 29.

Not only have Liverpool signed Konchesky but they have also struck deals for youngsters Suso and Adam Hajdu. The former is a young striker from Cadiz, the latter joins from MTK Budapest
Suso's been tearing it up for the U-18s (made 1st team appearances in the pre-season) looks to be a really good young player.

It's only a loan with an option to buy. But yeah I'd have rather kept him to develop, plus he counts as home grown.
If Roy wanted him back at all i guess he wouldn't have put the option to buy there.

I think he was a useful player who could have developed nicely for you.

5:42 Chris Murphy: I'd say slim to none, Fred. Though Gordon Banks is interested in a move I hear, and he's currently a free agent.
Fred, you were that one, right? :lol2:
