The Gallas situation was handled quite poorly by Wenger, if I recall correctly.

If by handled it poorly you mean he took too long to strip Gallas of the captaincy, then i agree.

First the Birmingham incident, where Gallas started crying like a baby after the Brum game, the boss let that one go. Then the pics revealing Gallas partying out at night in the middle of the season, the boss let that one slide too. But when he took locker room problems to the media, thats where the boss had enough. He rightfully stripped Gallas of the captaincy.

Gallas has played his best football for Arsenal ever since that mind you. I used to hate him, but after his display of professionalism in the aftermath of the strip from captaincy, he really changed my mind about him.

Gallas went public to the media about a locker room bust up between some Arsenal players which is a giant breach of trust at any club, even more so if your the captain.

I believe it was Nasri or VP who had a spat with him or something along those lines. Can't remember exactly who it was.

I think Gallas said to the media that some members of the club had to grow up, or resolve their problems for the team's sake. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. He was stripped of the captaincy for stating the truth, which is a real shame.

I think Gallas said to the media that some members of the club had to grow up, or resolve their problems for the team's sake. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. He was stripped of the captaincy for stating the truth, which is a real shame.

This is true. But he went a bit more in depth telling the media that there were problems in the dressing room while Arsenal were also going through a rough patch. I think the team form had a major impact on the decision at the time also. They were struggling and this just made it worse.

But if it was me I would have ripped into him after the Birmingham game where he sat on the center circle and cried. It's doesn't inspire confidence in your teammates when they see that and as the captain he should have set a better example. Especially in a team full of young, impressionable players.

I was never his biggest fan but the way he has come back after losing the armband has been terrific. I've found a new sense of respect for Gallas after not trying to force his way out of the club and coming back stronger than ever.

Sure, but he wasn't fired because of that incident. He was fired as captain after criticizing the team at a press conference despite his words being justified and true. And at times a good public kick in the ass does wonders.

It wasn't the criticism that he was punished for, it was the fact that he told the media about some of the spats in the dressing room, things like that should be kept in the dressing room. For your information, in the immediate aftermath of Gallas action, we lost 3-0 to Man City so i'm not sure if it does wonders.

Gallas was an absolute twat and he was one of the worst captains ever. At the risk of taking advantage of hindsight, i say it turned out to be a brilliant decision by Wenger. Gallas has played his best ever football for us after being stripped of captaincy, and Cesc has become a different player ever since he's become a captain.
