Yes that was a penalty(Arshavin's one). As for Almunia, i think he barely touched Rooney, and Rooney just made a meal out of it. Look closer at the replay, there is no way such minimal contact would have caused him to fall down.
But i do agree with you that mental weakness lost us the game, i'm just saying the refs poor performance waded in as well.

But in all cases i don't want it to sound like i'm just blaming the ref for today's loss. Because i'm not. We don't know how to keep a lead, our midfield does not function with Cesc, our keeper makes too many mistakes, our midfielders are the poorest set of midfielders in all big teams, we are too weak mentally and we have no depth whatsoever.

Still, i'd have never given a penalty for that.

Rooney started falling before any contact, that was clear. He definitely sold it to the ref.
Almunia should have seen that rooney was never going to score, and should have pulled his hands back. Unfortunately, by rushing out, he made it very easy for Rooney to win a penalty that probably looked nailed-on to the ref. And let's face it, that would be a penalty for 90% of refs. Definite contact, despite the fact that Rooney wouldn't have come close to scoring had Almunia been a little smarter.
Fred-I don't watch Arsenal nearly as much as you do, but aren't you being a little harsh on Denilson and Diaby? They didn't do too bad a job today against manu's midfield, did they? The OG was pretty bad though, but Diaby made a couple of runs that created some space/chances

Well they aren't entirely bad footballers, and Diaby made a few marauding runs but with little to none end product as usual. His decision making is still poor, and he just doesn't deserve to be playing in Arsenal.
As for Denilson, he is the epitome of mediocrity, adds nothing to our midfield whatsoever, and both were poor againt United today,they were completely outplayed by Fletcher and Giggs.

What goes around comes around for Arsenal. They dominated Man u who ddnt look convincing at all. But Arsenal beat Celtic with some daft goals, and Man U beat arsenal in the same way. A needless penalty, and a clusterf**k of an own goal. Man U got 3 points, but they were not as convincing as the gunners. I reckon Juve would pump both of em, its chelsea who look rly good right now.
