It's better he left them now for a decent fee instead of leaving next summer for nothing.

agreed, would they rather he sat tight and got a move to Liverpool,who were not willing to meet Villa's asking price or get the optimal fee from another side?either way they lose a player, difference is their ability to replace him afterwards

Let them spend. I hope they spend record amounts. They can't afford it in the long run. They're creating a bubble that will have to burst at some point, just like the sub-prime crisis.

With regards to Barry and the bad publicity, he’s brought it on himself. A few months ago he let it known that he only wanted to leave Aston Villa for Champions League Football, and now he’s at Man City… And to be quite honest, I can’t see Man City getting into the Champions League for at least another 2 seasons, regardless of who they buy. There is a gulf in class between the top four and the other clubs, and then you have other emerging teams such as Everton and Tottenham which will probably finish higher than City next season.

A bad move in my opinion!

The thing is, The english might not be great in many things (they're pretty average if not below average in sports in general ) but they'll definately great in managing their money.

Apart from few examples here and there (leeds united) but in general they're pretty good in the financial Dep. Even with all the talk about english clubs spending lots of money they've still haven't reached the level of craziness that the italian clubs reached in the 90's.

Personaly i think that the premier league are pretty safe "financially".

bollocks, there is a hell of a lot of debt in the PL and Steanta are already close to financial ruin, as the worldwide recession tightens the amount of money flooding england will start to dry up and clubs will find themselves unable to match their payments and re-payments.....then we can sit back and watch it all unravel

There might be a higher wages for Barry that make him move from Villa.
But City management is stupid though. Why do they buy De Jong file his contract is expiring and now buy a similar MC. They also spend always for forward and not invest in defense (by letting Corluka go and replace by mediocre Zabaleta, also buy cheap second rated player Bridge for LB). They only have one good player in defense which is Micah Richards
