They aren't.

I hate anyone who supports teams based on religion and/or politics.
What does supporting you NT have to do with politics and religion?
So when you support your NT what are you supporting?

I think its all about your love for your country which brings us back to politics. Maybe this is only here in the Middle East that people always tie the love for the country with politics.

When I support the national team I support the players representing my country. I don't yell "Go USA politics, whoohoo". The players don't run the country.

I tend to disagree with some of the politics of my country, yet still support the team.

JBF, to make this simpler.

Imagine two clubs from Baghdad, say team A and team B. Team A's supporters are all Shiites, and Shiites all support team A because it "represents" them. They hate team B and their fans, Team B "represents" the Sunnis. Sunni's always support team B and Shiites support Team A and there is a lot of hatred between the two sets of supporters.

How would you like if that happened?

Well it does happen in many countries in "the middle east". Not just based on religion but also on Ethnicity but they don't hate each other to the point they want to kill each other but they still don't like each other.

I would hate to see that happen. But in general people tend to look for something to fight over so even if there weren't any reason for dividing up, they'll find one out.

Yes that is true, and it is stupid.

Well ya that is true. I just wanted to point out that Red's hate for Celtic and Rangers because they bring religion into football is completely justified.

hey and mine too,one thing sure to bring fans of most scottish clubs together is their hatred for Rangers and Celtic.

my best mate is a Gers fan and is a smug prick 95% of the time, that is hwen they are not in "crisis" and he always tries to slag off Hearts, the dick has been to Ibrox TWICE in his life and both times at hospitality....he has NEVER paid to watch his beloved club but he sure seems to have a big mouth..

other than being a gloryhuntingbigotbrothersupportingcock he is sound though

That's the thing: you can live with folk who are just football fans and happen to support a club you hate.

I was recently told by some folk at uni (fuckin' students ) that I went over the top when I lauched a tirade of foul and abusive language at some guy who said he was a Rangers/Linfield/Chelsea fan.

damn man no wonder you attacked him....fuckin Chelsea?

you are right though,it is possible to get on with rival fans but almost impossible to get on with dicks who think that THEY are succesful because they support a team that is succesful.....they are almost always intolerable assholes
