Lichtsteiner, Rod Fanni, Rafinha ..

Thats just of the top of my head. Johnson may be better and more guaranteed than the aforementioned names, but you still could have took a bigger risk and saved more money in the process. Instead you have Rafa overpaying for players every summer and then complaining that he doesn't have enough money.

Blanc himself is fairly surprised. He hasn't been setting the world alight with his performances, not at all. Till now he has been all hype. Which is why its surprising Man Utd went for him.

I hope Obertan fails.

He won't come anywhere close to filling Ronaldo's shoes in his first few years, and I doubt he will in the long run either.

tbh folk are alwasy talkinmg about Sir Beetroot face's record of signing great youngsters (or kidnappig them from their clubs) but his record of signing established players is not quite so good.... Berbatov hardly set the heather alight last season, Nani,Poborsky,Djemba Djemba,Kleberson,Jordi, etc were all expected to do big things and the money Manure have could turn out to be more a curse than a blessing

at least we can hope so..........

None of which have played in the EPL. Johnson has. This is probably the overpayment that makes the most sense. Keane wasn't worth 20M, neither is Johnson but at least he has what we need.

not to mention the fact that we need english players. Is he overpriced, sure, but it certainly is an understandable buy

Selective arguing.

Off tip of head:

Cantona, Keane, Rooney, Cole, Sheringham, York, Bruce, Pallister, Schmeichal, Van der Sar, Vidic, Ferdinand, Van Nistletoy, Best, Bob Dylan, Long John Silver, Ronaldo.

i think you miss the point, folk look at youngsters or highly rated players going to man u and think that will equate to definite success, Ferguson has made some signings that people thought would be sensational and turned out to be flops,i am trying to get over that he is not some sort of god, manure do produce flops as well

oh and of the genuine players you mentioned there-
Cantona, Keane, Rooney, Cole, Sheringham, York, Bruce, Pallister,Nav Der Sar + Ferdinand were all already established players in England and was much less a risk
