I only watched the first half of Liverpool's game. But man the result didn't reflect the general play. Villa played rather well actually, but made some terrible mistakes at the back. Liverpool were efficient and productive today, they took every chance that was presented to them.

Old Trafford and Liverpool play Fulham before United play Villa so they could be 2 point behind by the time they meet Villa.

Also the internationals coming up might come into play with injuries and all of that.

Now Freidel has been sent off and Villa are facing another penalty.
Fulham haven't lost at home to any of the big teams. Beating Arsenal and United, and drawing with Chelsea. There is no guarantee that Liverpool will beat them.

If i was a betting man, i'd put my money on Fulham causing an upset.

same.

it's funny how consistently Reina's "long balls" set up goals, yet the commentators still think it's just coincidence. thrilled with the result though, definitely was a potential banana skin

Henry, Reina is one of the best distributers in the game. I was good in my day (6 assists and 1 goal senior season), but Reina is phenomenal. Not only can he kick 18 to 18 and throw 18 to mid plus, but in that space he can play the ball where he pleases. Not many GKs can do that.

exactly! how many of our counterattack goals have been set up by a Reina throw in to the perfect position?! a couple games ago when his past to alonso in space perfectly set up a 3-man counter that resulted in a goal was a perfect example. and so many people don't rate him.

if we catch manure and win the league, I will eat my hat. not going to happen though
Never say never. Though I agree with you that it's not likely, I'm not going to bet against us doing something spectacular. Though I am glad we're playing well. Shows we only need 3 additions come next season. Striker and a Right back and maybe a winger.

agree that those are basically our needs, although if we got someone like aguero/silva and an RB I wouldn't be too disappointed. doubt we have the money though, we'll probably spend 15 million on some decent player, and another 15 on two solid players

Like I said... spend a few on a RB to compete with Arbeloa. Buy a striker... probably our biggest need, and a winger... preferably a right... the big money.

the problem with RB is Arbeloa is pretty good but not top class, which means we either spend a lot to get someone better, or get someone cheap who's not much better

His long balls do shrink when he comes out of the pool, however.

Nah, like E said, Reina is one of the better distributors of the ball amongst his fellow goallies. VDS is a good ball distributor too actually.

Yeah I agree with you Fred. VDS is a good distributer. I think he's rubbish in most other respects besides defense management and cross grabbing. He's not what he once was at shot blocking and he's never been good rushing out. Though he is playing in a place where he can do well at 40. Just like Semens.
