aye but that is assuming(incorrectly) that he bought these players, for some reason the continental approach of a GM buying the players to fit a coaches system just does not work. spurs lost 3 superb forwards, replaced them (at the last minute) with a guy who needs time to adapt to the english game and totally ignored the gaping hle on front of the defense.

you cannot blame ramos for that, but you can say that he should have learned english so that he could communicate with his players

which is what a manager should be. I mean your coaching the team, your the one thats going to take the blame if the team loses and the praise if the team wins, its only natural that the manager should be in charge of who comes in and who goes out.

what it should really be is that the sporting director and the manager be on the same page...in most cases, the director won't get players the manager doesn't want...that's just bad business

The english are new in all that signing players (foreign players) business (after all they've just started in the 90's). Thats why they depend soo much on their managers to do everything for the club (which worked great so far for them). But what will happen when you have the wrong manager in you're club who buys the wrong players (similar in a way to what happened with tottenham in this case).

Clubs like man united and arsenal are lucky to have managers like ferguson and wenger to take these decisions. But both those guys won't stay forever in their clubs. Both those clubs will face big issues when those two guys leave one day....

thanks! seems like we did an excellent job of limiting their chances, especially aft er watching the replays. we were defensive, but we still created better chances than they did.

surprised that liverpool won away at chelsea , and finally the Totenham won their first match with their new coach , i wonder why they did not get him from the start.

you got it wrong there mate, that wasnt what Tottenham were doing, they had Commolli (former Arsenal scout) as the man in charge of signings, Not Juande Ramos.

fred beat me to it, the same thing happened at newcastle, that is why keegan walked! he was not having a say in who was brought in, the positions that were to be strengthened and was basically just having players dumped on him by a GM who did not really give a damn what he wanted. keegan felt this undermined his position and walked, quite right as well
as fred said earlier, if you are the man in the firing line then you want to say who comes in,who goes out and if you have a grand plan for a club then they MUST listen to you

while liverpool played a very tacticaly sond game, chelsea only have themselves to blame. their passing was sloppy throughout the game and there was absolutely no sense of urgency about their play. in the end they surrendered an outstanding home record rather meekly

perhaps, but you have to recognize that liverpool were superb at preventing clear chances, which understandably frustrated chelsea after awhile. we were also creating excellent chances on the counter, which is why the highlights show very little of chelsea even coming close to scoring. some of the passing through the middle was extremely good, liverpool starting to play attractive football. about fucking time :D nice to see the bitters take points off the mancs as well ;)
