i was talking to some people at work and they support various teams and they all agreed that football in england is ding, clubs are becoming commodities, and the clubs that fans support are becoming worthless.

yep, it was on channel 4 news, they're an extremely reliable bunch. Man u has 1.6 billion, whilst man city now has an astounding 23.6( something like that I can't rember the exact figure) the buy out is only 200 million a drip in the ocean for them

Really I could care less about how much money a team has. People should really just wait and see how this translates onto the pitch. All they've done so far is purchased Robinho, a good player. Last time I checked Robinho isn't a whole team of mercenaries. He's just one player. Or is he?

I see. Age old case of old money being better than new money. Really there are very few teams in the world who's success hasn't come from some guys pocket book at one time or another.

there's nothing wrong with a club buying a good player, not at all.
Think about it though, chelsea can only afford to splash out 32milion on a new player every now and again. But now with city there are no limits, one of the chief abu dabi guys that is running the club said he would offer 135 million for c.ronaldo.
Now i'm not going to jump to conclusions here, there is still time for this whole thing to pan out yet, this is only one buy as you said. but then again they confirmed that the club went crazy offering in a total of 300 million for some of the worlds best players in the space of a night. I say this time next year we will be able to see what direction this club has taken.
