Arsenal reportedly signed Caen winger Yoann Goufran for the summer.

I was hoping he'd come right now in January, he's 21 years old, a pacy player, i personally rate him higher than Walcott..Our depth in the attacking midfield department isnt good enough..i think that is what might cost us the league this season.

He was quite impressive against L'OM last saturday, gave their leftback a horrid time

Yes i've been watching his Osasuna games every time i get the chance..he looks a talented player..i'm concerned about his lack of end product though..but he's still only 18 and he's got a lot of time to improve..My guess is that Wenger will use him mostly in the Carling Cup next season.

Arsenal Stun Spurs As Woodgate Bid Is Accepted

Arsenal have made a late jump into the race to sign Jonathan Woodgate, and have quickly taken pole position.

The transfer of Jonathan Woodgate seemed close to being completed after the defender travelled to London over the weekend to complete a medical at White Hart Lane.

Middlesbrough had accepted identical offers from both Newcastle and Spurs, and left it to the player to decide his destination.

However, it became clear on Saturday evening that Kevin Keegan had given up on luring the former Real Madrid man back to Tyneside, leaving Spurs as favourites.

A move to Tottenham was to be completed by this morning. However, following an unexpected delay, Boro have confirmed that they have accepted a bid from a third club as well.

Sky Sports News claim that the club are Arsenal, so Woodgate's visit to London could well be to complete a move to The Emirates.

This late bid - emerging undoubtedly from Arsene Wenger's defensive concerns, particularly after Kolo Toure picked up a groin injury in Ghana - is certain to leave Spurs furious.

Woodgate is eligible to play in Europe this season, and not many top defenders are, which could be another reason why Arsenal could be ready to take the plunge.

It is being suggested that the lure of Champions League football could prove too strong for the player. That Woodgate has been in London for over 36 hours and Spurs have yet to strike an accord, leaves more than plenty to read between the lines.

Wow I did not see that coming but if its true its great piece of business by Arsene as Woodgate when fit is very good.

Emmanuel Adebayor is making a strong statement for footballer of the year but as Drogba found out last season that despite a phenomenal campaign Christiano Ronaldo is almost untouchable

Will he have a work permit in time for next season though?
yes i think i heard he will have one as early as this February.

@the Woodgate news, thats really some shocking news..i never knew we were in the market for a defender...imo getting a winger should have taken priority..but i'm not complaining as long as we're sticking it to the Spuds again.:agree:

I think that maybe Toures injury made Wenger think of Woodgate..maybe even Song is now going to be moved back to midfield since Diarra left.

Adebayor has been great the past few months..but Ronaldo has been phenomenal all season..i dont believe Adebayor is going to compete with Ronaldo for player of the year..Cesc has a much better chance, but he needs to get back to his best soon.

yeah he is a very good player. And you don't expect much of end product from a player with no proper guidance and young age anyway.
Will he have a work permit in time for next season though?
yeah thats another thing.

I read about Nashat Akram a few days back and that he couldn't get a permit. He a very good player and a vice captain of his nation. Its a real shame he couldn't get a permit and i felt really bad for him.

If arsenal could pull the woodgate deal, it would be really good business. After he came back the EPL hes really shown his worth imo.

My question is what is southgate thinking ? hes not doing all that well with him there. And he would opt to keep his hands on an average player like downing!

The Nashat Akram thing really surprised me..i mean he is one of Asias best players..his country just won the Asian cup and he was one of the best players in the tournament..i never thought a W.P would be an issue..i was looking forward to seeing how he does in Europe.
