The Geordies are being ridiculous..what do they expect from him..immediate success..they should be sensible enough to know that any manager would need time to rebuild an underachieving squad like newcastle...

You'll be waiting a long time for Flamini to score.
terrible news...The Flamster is injured too....the onus is really on Rosicky now..he needs to step up big time.

I was always fond of Newcastle, yet they always fail. I don't think it's the manager though, their problem lies deeper within, the management. Apart from Inter, I've never seen so much horrible transfer moves one after another, year in, year out.

Most of all I feel sorry for their fans, they're really something.

Their squad needs to be rebuilt..a new era..and alladryce is the man for the job imo..he is very shrewd in the transfer market and he's a good manager..but he needs time and patience from the fans and board.

Chelsea Reportedly Targeting Arsenal's Bedntner

Arsenal's highly-rated Danish striker, Nicklas Bendtner, is reportedly a target for Premier League title rivals Chelsea, whose sporting director Frank Arnesen is apparently a huge fan of his young compatriot.

The agent (and father) of Nicklas Bendtner, the Arsenal and Denmark striker, has refused to comment on reports linking the forward with a move across London to Chelsea.

According to some reports, Bendtner is top of Chelsea manager Avram Grant's wanted list, along with Nicolas Anelka and Benni McCarthy.

Some sources claim that Chelsea are preparing to offer Arsenal some £12million to prise Bendtner away from the Emirates.

Chelsea's sporting director, fellow-Dane Frank Arnesen, is said to be a fan of his countryman, and obviously feels he could do a job for the Blues.

Bendtner spent last season productively, on loan to Birmingham City throughout their promotion campaign, and made a big impact at St Andrews.

With that success behind him, he returned to Arsenal in the summer determined to break through into the Gunners' first-team.

That may yet happen; but so far Bendtner, 19, has largly been restricted to the Carling Cup and cameo appearances from the bench.

Whether Chelsea could offer him more opportunities for first-team football than Arsenal is debatable; the likes of Steve Sidwell, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Claudio Pizarro, Andrei Shevchenko and Wayne Bridge all moved to Chelsea for big money but none are automatic starters at Stamford Bridge.

However Bendtner's father Thomas, who also acts as his agent, would not comment on the Chelsea link.

"I have no comment to make," he told the Daily Mirror.

The way I look at it is he's a young player who's bagged 11 in the 17 matches he's played. Not so bad. Think of what will happen once he gets comfortable on the road.
oh no doubt man i was just playing devila advocate a wee bit. imagine if he finds those shooting boots away from home? could be talking golden boot contender

But then again what team would not miss the two best offensive midfielders atm in the PL and possibly in Europe?
It's true Gunners didn't deserve the win. 'Castle applied massive pressure from the minute Arsenal made it 1-0. Almunia had a hell of a game.

Btw Adebayor netted a beauty. ;)

Was the worst performance of the season.

Newcastle are an awful team and we looked just as bad; missing two players isn't really an excuse as every player out there was a full international.

Capello: Reds Owners Tapped Me Up - Twice!

Former Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello has stirred things up by sensationally claiming that Liverpool's owners have twice approached him to take over the Anfield hotseat.

Rafael Benítez' position at Anfield remains extremely vulnerable, at least if this morning's story of the alleged 'tapping up' of Fabio Capello is to be believed.

Benítez Beyond Repair

Liverpool's current boss appears to have put his recent troubles with the club's American owners behind him, leading the Reds to a succession of impressive victories following the recent international break.

However, The Daily Mirror newspaper reported on Wednesday that Tom Hicks and George Gillet have twice approached Italian Fabio Capello to be Liverpool's new boss, fearing that the damaged relations with Benítez are beyond repair.

The former Real Madrid and Roma boss Capello alleges that this 'tapping up' occurred twice last week, both before and after the Reds' 4-1 victory over Porto in the Champions League.

England Worry

The news may stun Liverpool supporters, but will also be cause for concern for the FA, who The Mirror claims had been advised to plump for the 61-year-old Italian as the next England boss, rather than José Mourinho. Capello has already publicly thrown his hat into the ring as a contender for the vacant Three Lions job.

But then again:

Liverpool Capello Link Is 'Nonsense'

Liverpool were quick to distance themselves from rumours linking Fabio Capello to Anfield...

Fabio Capello, having already expressed an interest in succeeding Steve McLaren as England boss, has been linked with Liverpool this week.

Current boss Rafa Benitez’s public row with Reds co-owners George Gillet and Tom Hicks over the availability of transfer funds was cause for concern at the club. The Americans were said to be aware of Capello’s availability.

However, Benitez has apparently shown remorse after the spat, with the situation unlikely to go any further. The club has acted quickly to quell the rumours.

Spokesman Ian Cotton said: "This story is complete nonsense."

61-year-old Capello is currently out of work since being sacked by Real Madrid after winning the Spanish title last season. Chief Executive Rick Parry was adamant that no talks had taken place.

"It is absolutely, completely and utterly untrue. Capello has not contacted us and we have not contacted him."

i didnt watch the game but from the highlights, he could have slipped a ball to Eduardo and Edu would have been one on one with the keeper..but instead he chose to dribble..But i dont want to be unfair on him..that was a fantastic goal he scored..tbh i didnt think he had that in him

Oh yeah that was pretty disturbing when he didn't pass it to Eduardo. Though to me it looked like Eduardo wasn't going fast enough and chances are he was going to get chased down by the defender. But still, he should've made the pass.

Watching Villa-Portsmouth ATM, 0:2 at HT. Muntari scored a nice goal but overall the match is horrible, a true long ball fiesta. Don't know why all these people came to see it. They'd be better off renting a good, long rugby pitch and kicking the ball up and down the field themselves. Whoever kicks it further, wins.

O Neil needs to tell his midfielders to receive the ball from their defence and distribute it themselves..instead of being passive and watching the ball fly over them all game long..Aston Villa need to make use of Ashley Young..

Porstmouth have been a joy to watch though(always have been imo) they're playing it on the ground and at a fast pace...good football

Oh and Muntari really does kick ass..what a third goal by him...Utaka usually is more lively..he's been a passenger in this game

The first goal was class, the second one was pure excellence. He fought for the ball, stole it, then unleashed a rocket.

Portsmouth are a very good team and they are really dangerous away from home, I think this is their 5th or 6th win away. They have some really talented players on the pitch who know how to pass the ball and hold up the play(I mainly think of Kranjcar here :p ). Muntari, Utaka very good and usefull players that cover a lot of the pitch. Mendes, knows how to distribute the ball properly. Seriously, shame they didn't score another goal, they had some very good counter attacks, especially the Boubadiop miss... Benjani disapointed me, he tried to do too much by himself.

Kranjcar is good yes..and Benjani was selfish a couple of times..and like all african strikers..he misses 10 chances before converting one(i'm mainly thinking of Adebayor here:p)
