After watching Man Utd labour to an undeserved victory against Everton, I'm convinced that they are the odds-on favourites once again for the title. I've never been a fan of making championship predictions this early in the season, but it seems that Man Utd this year have the oft-called "luck of the champions". After a horrendous start to the season, they've caught up with the pack with undeserved wins and a more than a few lucky breaks (Chelsea losing to Aston Villa, Pool and Chelsea drawing yesterday etc.), and all of a sudden they're on level terms with Mourinho's men and within striking distance of table toppers Liverpool and Arsenal.

Look back to every single Premiership season in the post Abramovich era (and even a couple prior) and you'll notice the only constant to be found amongst the eventual English champions is that they inevitably go through such patches, where a spate of bad form seemingly becomes inconsequential when a few results go their way, and they costantly find the three points handed to them on days they don't deserve to win.

Poor guy...

Silvestre to miss season

Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre will not play again this season after being diagnosed with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

The Frenchman was carried off on a stretcher during Saturday's Premier League game against Everton at Goodison Park, and a scan confirmed serious damage.

He is the third United player to suffer a major knee injury in recent months, after Ben Foster and Park Ji-Sung were both ruled out for extended period.

The Premier League champions are now without a recognised back-up for Patrice Evra at left-back following the sale of Gabriel Heinze to Real Madrid.

Given the occasional use of Evra in midfield - as on Saturday - it could be particularly damaging.

John O'Shea can play left-back but is also injured, meaning the inexperienced Gerard Pique, ostensibly a central defender, filled in late on in Saturday's game.

This is Silvestre's ninth season at Old Trafford, and he has made 285 appearances for the club.

what do you mean?
Drogba and Kalou are Mourinho's kids, they would follow him. I don't think any coach would play Ballack the way Mourinho did. He made him play even when everyone knew he would not do a thing. I am not saying that Ballack is a bad player, he is excellent but when he's not delivering he can be benched but not in Mourinho's books.

This is the first time we're topping the table since 2004
I've always thought Arsenal have had the talent to top the league. It was just a matter of not underachieving. Now it seems the pieces are falling into place, so far. Hopefully my Reds can keep pace and make it an interesting race all the way.

Add Lampard to that list, especially since he hasn't signed a new contract.

I think Capello will take the job.I cant see Lippi going to the EPL.Now lets fire Ranieri so the jigsaw can be completed.
Both Capello and Lippi have announced earlier that they might consider an English job. It all depends on who Abramovic will make the offer. Then again, Abramovic was not satisfied with the way Mourinho plays, Capello is not that different, why would he try to hire him?

Add Lampard to that list, especially since he hasn't signed a new contract.
Lampard too but Frank is more a Chelsean than a Mourinhian and it was Ranieri who brought him to the club unlike the others.

Kalou and Drogba are out, but whether they follow Mourinho is too be seen. I highly doubt the pair will be allowed to follow their manager. Drogba is a good player and may find Chelsea would want to keep him. With Kalou, it's different. He will probably be sold at the end of the season in favor of some new acquisition. Nevertheless, whichever team Mourinhon goes to is going to find it difficult to purchase those two at a fair price or any price at all. As for Ballack I see him going back to Bayern at the end of the season if not in January. Of course, all this is if Mourinho truly is leaving Chelsea.

I agree with everything you said. As for Ballack, it can be anywhere actually not necessarily Bayern only.

This reason I said back to Bayern is that Ballack is nearing the end of his career and while I'm sure big clubs like Madrid and Milan will want to recieve his signature, I don't think he will want to learn a new language or style of play. As for naming Bayern as the German team he would return to it is simply because I believe Bayern would be the only German squad to afford him.
