That's how I read it too. People's quotes are generally manipulated no end by the media.

For example, imagine you're Fabregas, and you're talking to a reporter. He asks you whether you think Arsenal can still catch the leaders. You want to be positive, so you say something about there being many months left in the season, and that the team's been playing well recently, and that you hope to give Man Utd and Chelsea a run yet. Nothing bad there, right?

Next day, back page of some piece of shit paper, something like this: http://www.itv.com/news/index_d1c039319eccc9b707852a9889098cbc.html

All spin, my friends.
Tevez says the team didn't went well under Pardew and that coaches are axed more rapidly in Argentina and Brazil .... see it coming?

Has anyone noticed that Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle have started to meet the expectations and actually play good?

Yeah, Liverpool is on absolute fire ATM. They are thrashing teams by quite a distance. Although initially sceptical about Newcastle, they do seem to be a genuine contender for a UEFA Cup. Oba Oba is scoring goals for fun, and he is finishing them with real venom. But when Oba is scoring at that rate, you know opposition defence isnt putting in too much of a fight.:D . But I believe Oba's game is more suited for Premiership with pace and plenty of space to exploit than tactical Serie A.

heh England's top 4 clubs are in top 4 of the table eh. Cool.
I think Liverpool, Chelski, and ManUre are guaranteed to finish top four. I am not so sure about Arsenal. They havent been winning consistently at home, which means a lot of dropped points against pretty mediocre teams.

I think Bolton will be battling for the final spot till the end of season.

I know, but Liverpool has been rather consistent at home in contrast to Arsenal. One thing team cannot do is to loose point against weaker teams at home. That is 2 dropped point which others will pick. It puts your team at harder position to move up the standings because winning away is not a simple thing even against likes of Fulham.

This is precisely the reason why I am not convinced by Gunners. Good teams just don't give away points against inferior opposition at home games. I do expect them to qualify for CL, but I have feeling those pesky, physical Bolton with genuine scorer in their hand now might just give you good run for money.
