Arsenal game was a total joke today.

1st goal - clearly offside

2nd goal - defender obviously got the ball and the ref wasn't in a position to see if it was a penalty or not

3rd goal - Van Persie handles the ball before getting tripped for another penalty.

Britain has the worst refsof anywhere i can think of. Scotland is worse but thatvis mainly because they are biased for Rangers and Celtic as well as being incompetent half wits.

maybe the arsenal fan forgot that in the Champions League final to score their goal, Eboue had to dive for a free-kick.
Quite nice to win a derby having 2 penalties and a highly suspicious offside goal.

Replay shows the first goal wasnt off side. But two non-existent penalties, and we see Arsenal fan come here to say they don't cheat!:rofl2:

I actually LIKE watching Arsenal play (Not only I have a natural team to root against but they do play some brilliant one touch stuff). I am running out of superlative for Cesc Fabregas. I adore Lehmann for his antics. . Henry is just too good a player to hate despite his lack of class in personality.

However, sportsmanship is not a trait of the current Arsenal team, and ditto for being classy in conduct. And some Arsenal fans are so blinded that they do not recognize that their team is not fair, classy, and decent. I love Nedved every single bit but it doesnt deter from telling people that Neddy is one hell of diver. I used to hate him in Lazio because he was winning so many penalties for that bunch of Nazis.

As to the game saturday. First goal was on-side, the second goal is a penalty and I'll explain why in a second. 3rd goal looked like a handball to me so no arguments there.

See you are being damn inflexible, pedantic that it is just impossible to get anything going. Look I have mentioned that Henry freaking DIVED against Hamburg. I havent got a video tape for it since I don't keep an archive of games. I am not that with computers for god's sake. But in all regards, even if I do find some cases where players clearly dived (Van Persie), you will just claim that it wasnt a dive and the decision was correct. And then challenge me to find an instance of evidence to show my case. And if you think the second was a penalty - get a grip.

Based on very little interaction with the other fans, I find prevailing Homerism amongst Arsenal fans to be distasteful. And that is also evident amongst the players. Really? anymore so then any other teams players? I wouldn't think so. Players by their very nature are competitive individuals; this creates player quirks which some find unpleasent. I personally don't care as long as they play the game. A good example with moaning are teams like Chelsea and ManU who regularly surround the ref, appeal against everything and make cunts of themselves. So what?

Parma held an open session for their youths to be picked off, we came to see Rossi actually but were far more impressed by Lupoli. They had to scale down because of their debts, why is that our problem? Why don't you moan about the other clubs who have taken a youth player from someone else? How about Chelsea taking two kids from Leeds? ManU taking the aforementioned Rossi?

That is part of football, if you don't like it you should find another game.

David Dein is not our board. He is one man who was on the FA panel and is our managing director (not the chairman). He is the man who negotiated deals with Sky for every club in the league. He is the guy who negotiated record sponsorships for the england team. He implemented strategies which saw the popularity of the premiership sore way beyond what anyone had predicted 10 years ago and in doing so bought great wealth to all of the clubs involved. Yes, he is a strewd bastard, but once again, so what? who in the business world isn't?

Wenger was approached for the england job, twice in fact and he turned it down because he doesn't like the idea of it. Same way he turned down the france job twice. He likes working with players on a day-to-day basis and that is why he has said many times it is likely he will never go into national management.

The fact that you say you have problems with our board just shows that you know little of what you are talking about. You come about not liking the clubs attitude to defeat but fail to realise that the only guys at the club who are gracious in defeat are those board members.

As I already said, you should look at facts rather then hearsay before making a stupid judgement. That's just a general rule of life.

Oh and for the record. I din't think Ronaldo dived on the weekend either.

As far as I know, the reason why Parma essentially lost two of their star players is that the teams in England can afford to provide professional contract at the age of 16 whereas in Europe the age is 18. Of course it is hard for kids to reject long term financial stability that these contract may bring, but teams like Parma FC spends millions each year developing these guys, and if all teams like Arsenal decide to go on predatory mode then what we will see is that teams won't simply bother developing these young prospects. If you think the kids got magically bigger, fitter, more skillful than in the past, you must be joking.

And your notion whether Van Persie dived or not is no more fact than I am saying he dived. Just because the stance I am taking tends to be opinionated doesnt the negation, the position you are taking, is a statement of fact. Oh btw, I do think in certain instances players falling over without any touches do constitue penalty or obstruction the very minimum (see Grosso). But one of those I leave my leg and lets see defender catches me is not a penalty in a million years. I am sure you saw Ronaldo blatantly diving into one the defender to get a touch.

You make it as if I have been hating Arsenal for whole my life. That is not true. Actually I quite like the Gunners when I stayed in England for a 2-3 years when they had some real tough cookies in the team. Likes of Dixon, Adams, and Ray Parlour are the last people I will associate with cheating. I think David Seaman's career is highly underrated and he struck me as a true gentleman. Heck, I hate ManUre more than Arsenal. THe present Gunners sickens me because of what they are.

The team that won the league in '89 was basically academy products through and through. This is the sort of thing I am talking about; if you don't understand the history of the club then you shouldn't comment on it. I would never dream of talking about Juve in that way because I don't know enough. I like the team; I like some of the players, sometimes I like the manager but I don't feel the need to slag off the board, the fans and anyone else associated with the club.

As to the diving, I would suggest that a dive is when a player goes down having clearly not been touched by an opposition player, I think Eboue's in the champions league final is a good example of this. Going to ground easily is another thing in my opinion and I believe that is what can be applied to the RvP one you mentioned; it was still a penalty to me but I don't think the goalie should have been sent off.

Ronaldo's I personally thought that he stumbled. It is the way his feet are that suggests that to me.

That depends upon what you consider cheating to be. Purposefully elbowing forwards in the head is cheating in my opinion, kicking a centre forward out of the game, putting constant pressure on the referee and generally practising some of the games 'dark arts' are all cheating in my opinion.

Seaman is very celebrated, but he made himself a national laughing stock so what can you do.

I don't see how the present Arsenal team can sicken you at all, but each to their own. I personally take much pride in watching this team grow and hope that eventually they will be as good as we all hope they can. This team is the fairest we have had for close to 20 years (IMO) so perhaps your opinion is slightly skewered by things outside of the players control.

I see. I guess we fundamentally differ in terms of what constitute as cheating. As far as I am concerned cheating need not have direct correspondence with penalty or other legal meseaure. Take Grosso example. I do think he dived but that was clear penalty IMO. I take cheating as kind of moral precept that I would like to see players adhere to the code of sportsmanship. What I detest most is whimpish, whinging, so called "clever play-acting" to gain whatever advantage over the opponents. I have Arsenal quite a bit this season but they have hugely disappointed me on this aspect and Wenger complaining about opposition tactics didnt help.

Personally, those Arsenal team in the mid 90s were a "true" hard men. They were physically brutual (yeah I forgot to mention that bold defender whose name I have forgotten), sometimes malicious, but they rarely engaged to fake injuries, deliberately draw contact (Listen Ronaldo). I like it that way better, though I do not necessarily condone thuggish behavior on the pitch.

It is clear to me that the modern day players are stronger, faster, technically superior than in the past. As I have mentioned, there is no Pele would have dominated the game the way he did in modern day game where the pool of depth from these players come is far deeper, and they are in general better trained. It is easy to marvel at the natural "talent" that these players possess, but we should never underestimate the actual money, time and general investment going on behind the scene to get the best out of these players. Contrast in quality with the 1970s, for example, is a stark reminder what youth policy investment could do for the fans. Hence, any predatory purchasing of young players by big teams or for that matter amongst big teams should be prohibited because what makes sense at an individual level may never may sense at the aggregate level. But whether Lupoli was a predatory purchase is a different matter all together.

Lastly, I will just apologize for the out of context comments that I have made. I have irritated by certain sections of Arsenal fan before and I do admit to certain bias against the team. However, I do not see still Arsenal to be particularly fair team for that matter. But I have realized that why we so fundamentally differ is that we possess contrasting understanding on the issue of cheating, and there is no way we can resolve this issue because we will continue to bicker about whether an accident was cheating or not. That would be particularly unproductive way to waste time for myself and you as well.
