Terry injury fears allayed

Chelsea had positive news regarding John Terry after their skipper left hospital and returned to The Millennium Stadium following his injury in the Carling Cup final.

The Blues defender was rushed to hospital following a sickening head injury in the second half of Chelsea's 2-1 win, but any fears of a serious problem have now been allayed.

Terry was allowed to return to the scene of his side's victory after his absence meant Frank Lampard was called upon to lift the Carling Cup.

The England skipper sustained the injury when Abou Diaby attempted to clear from a corner and only succeeded in booting Terry full in the face.

During a lengthy delay in play -with the Blues skipper lying unconscious on the pitch - medical staff from both sides treated Terry as a number of players voiced obvious concern at his condition.

However, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has now signalled his relief at the news of his leader's return after admitting the incident evoked memories of Petr Cech's horror injury earlier in the season.

"Sometimes in football, dramatic things happen," said Mourinho.

"This season we have already had the situations with Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini and the negative thoughts come directly to your mind.

"The first point is 'Is he safe? Is the man fine?'. John's wife, his little babies are here, so the most important thing is that the man is safe.

"John risked himself and the Arsenal player was trying to protect his goal. I have no criticism about that.

"There was concern when the situation happened but after that the information was coming in that he was conscious again and everything is fine."

Match-winner Didier Drogba - who scored twice following Theo Walcott's opener for Arsenal - spoke after the final whistle of his distress at Terry's injury.

"Today is strange," said Drogba. "We won and we're happy because we've got the cup but we are also scared because we didn't know what to expect when we saw JT on the floor.

"I think more about JT than the cup. It is difficult because he was one metre away from me (when it happened).

"We saw his character and this is why he is our captain and why he is the best."

waw man. united scored 3 goals in the first 6 minutes and they end the game winners 3-2 over reading in the fa cup
Pathetic defending from Reading. Man Utd's second string took them apart. Reading really should have had a go at winning it this time by playing a full strenght team. Christ, the league's not that important, or fragile for that manner.

What a way to win a game. Reminds me of Capello somehow.

Liverpool dominating the field, attacking non-stop and then Giggs to take a freekick cross it and O'shea to put it in after a mistake from the keeper min 91.

Manchester played their worst game of the whole season. Liverpool managed to impress me greatly. Barcelona will have their work cut out if Pool play like they did today.

Liverpool got a goal dissallowed for offside. Replay showed all Liverpool players were onside. This is how it goes though. Part of the game.

Pressure increases on Chelsea once again.

Yes, Indeed. Liverpool's goal wasn't offside at all. About Barca, I think their chances has decreased after this game. Liverpool are pretty good.

I think Mourinho can handle the pressure. Thats what makes him a world class coach.
