not sure about that, the pass was from own half, besides there was still al leicester defender ahead of benteke
There need to be at least two players behind (usually it's a goalie + player) and it matters where Benteke recieved the ball, not from where it was sent.

Yeah, but Benteke wasn't inside his own half, and that's what matters. And the offside rule states that two opposition players have to be ahead of the attacker, usually that means one defender and the GK, but in this case the GK wasn't in goal.

the rule is vague and absurd in this case, and common sense dictate such move is valid, why should the counter attacking team be punished because the opposition GK and all their defenders went away from their own goal?

The rule is not vague at all. Two defensive players in line or ahead of the offensive player at the time of the pass being played. People assume it's one player and forget that the goalkeeper is part of the defensive side. There is no 'punishing' here. It's the responsibility of the team on the offense to stay onside.

That's true, but also it doesn't take into account the situation you guys are trying to analyze. When there is only one player on the defending side of the pitch and therefore impossible to have two players between the ball and the goal. By the rule, the ball should be blown dead, but this obviously punishes the counter-attacking team that didn't take the risk of placing it's goalkeeper and all but one defender on the opposing side of the pitch. I'm sure it's one of those rare cases where the officials are told to use "referee's discretion".

The only thing vague here is your comprehension.

On a 3 game winning run playing against a team with one point in the last 5 games and a golden chance to go top of the table, but in the end they had to do give the most Arsenaley performance and lose 3-0.
