3 assists actually, but that's beside the point. That season was far from mediocre for him, considering the number of goals and his overall presence on the pitch, often dragging his side throughout the game.
Dragging his side by scoring less than their better players, and not getting assists? Overall presence?

As a No 10 you better be scoring or creating chances, ie. getting assists. He was doing little of both that year, and guess what, Roma was better for it. The year, Totti wasn't their most important player, Roma won something.

That season, against Lazio, Juventus, Parma, Inter (2-5 in the table at the end of the season)... in 8 games he scored 1 goal and didn't have a single assist.

 13 goals is little now. K

He was voted for best Italian player that season, but he wasn't important at all according to you.

Anyways, you're the one who said he was on the same level as Thierry Henry, which is clearly not the case. By any objective measure, i.e. statistics, performance for national team and in Champion's League. His assist totals are hardly higher than Henry's even. it something like 110 to 85 if you take out Henry's time in MLS with Henry playing 100 or so less games.

And Henry could be the star player in a winning team. Totti could not. And that's the gist of my argument. The one season Roma won Serie A, he wasn't even their star and did nothing in the matches against their biggest competition. 8 matches against 2-5 in the table and 1 goal, 0 assists. He isn't, and wasn't good enough to be the star on a top team that wins trophies in a tough league. Just like Di Natale. Is he better than Di Natale. Yes. But the amount people overrate him is ridiculous considering his accomplishments and his endless choking when the lights are brightest.

It's a joke he was voted best in Serie A that year, when Batistuta was clearly the most important part of that team, hence the reason they had their downfall with Batistuta's troubles the next 2 seasons.

It's also a joke he was voted co Serie A player of the year with Nedved in 2003.

I said that they were different players, part of different surrounding, and couldn't really make any comparison, merely suggesting that is ridiculous to claim that Henry was thousand times better player than Totti.

TWO Vital and highly significant questions:

1.) Why are we discussing Totti in the EPL thread? :shifty:

2.) Why is PostIronic (ironically, an objective poster ) being a complete retard and totally subjective (and I am one biased motherfucker often times) when it comes to Totti?
