I agree that he is clueless about management, and if he really is using that as an excuse then all the funnier, but he does make some good points on the wider issue.
I also happen to think that the idea of having black applicant quotas (Rooney rule) in the English game is a little ridiculous at this stage. If a coach is good enough or wants it enough they will get a role. If a chairman really is racist or has ignorant ideas then a 25% quota is going to make little difference to who he appoints in the job, it is just a waste of time for him and the black applicants going through that process.
The long and short of it these days is that a lot of black footballers retire and leave the game because they have other interests, the figures are there to read, there are few black coaches going for their qualifications and badges. You don't just have to sell it to white chairman, it seems they have to sell it to black retired footballers. Let's face it, players earn so much money now they can go and do whatever they want when they retire, they can do absolutely nothing if they choose.
