Well, if that last phrase is true, then it's much worse. The intensity of a tackle doesn't matter as long as it's executed correctly. But as @Post_Ironic said; this is a thing of the past.

Besides Wasyl's major offences were elbows all the time.

No, I mean that as Witsel probably wanted to protect himself. Sometimes you 'stiff leg' people like that, because you know you yourself won't get hurt that way. It's not fair no, but it's understandable.

De Rossi's fouls, deliberately stepping over the ball and on someone's leg, are much worse imo.

De Rossi`s foul agains Porto?! It should have been a lengthy ban IMO - certainly a dirty dangerous foul which doesnt belong in football!
