Nah. Pretty sure Pogba was part of the initial plans for the season. Pjanic was an addition to an already good midfield that needed a spark of quality with Marchisio's ACL-injury, Asamoah/Khedira injury woes and the Africa Cup of Nations and of course the under par players like Hernanes.

That said: I'm quite confident Marotta's been working hard looking for a Pogba replacement, but failed in this quest. Probably down to a financial decision, where a player like Matuidi at this stage of the mercato is seen as too expensive in a simple cost/benefit-analysis.

We can't know for certain what's going [italian media is 90% percent], but the above for me is a qualified guess.
I agree. Problem is that when we had our stacked midfield the likes of Nainggolan and Allan (and Kondogbia) were on the market and we had to leave them alone, now who is/was around for us to make a similar move for? We'd already signed Pjanic :D

Matuidi for me seems like he wants to leave because of the technical decisions of Emery, but PSG know he is an important symbol and have blocked it. Otherwise you don't hear Marotta say things like he is confident, it's usually something cryptic or a flat out denial, which is sometimes a lie (Higuain). It doesn't benefit him to talk positively about players he wasn't going to sign. PSG did a 360 on Matuidi or are playing hardball with the money, like you say.

As of now it seems Juve have put a hold on the deal until they have signed either wistel or matuidi because believe it or not that's still on the table. Also it seems that lichtstiener may be on the way out as Cuadrado seems more and more a yes

    Latest Di Marzio:

Says he's done all his blood tests and medical with Zulte and was all agreed to sign today but Cagliari are interested in him last minute. Currently Marrone is believed to be honouring his agreement with Zulte Waregem, but it depends what Cagliari offer.
