A Pjanic-Khedira-Marchisio midfield doesn't fill me with confidence about our CL prospects especially when it comes to winning it. Maybe we need to tone down our expectations a bit.

Yes.

Imagine Bayern having to rely On Javi Martinez and Thiago as their midfield starters and we both know they're absolute quality. We kind of find ourselves in that situation.

In : Witsel + Cuadrado

Out : Licht + Hernanes

That's how I see it.
Coadrado loan? loan + option/obligation?
Licht + Hernanes = 15-18m.
Zaza = 20
Our total income will be ~ 42-43m...add our summer transfer budget and will have plenty of money to sign someone WC.

Was reading somewhere from a Ligue 1 follower that Fabinho was converted to DM by Monaco last season and apparently plays in midfield now . Hmm interesting.

So now we knew we were going to sell Pogba and didn't react?
I dont think we did, but every summer his been linked with a move out so it was a matter of time. This season it was just more likely. But thats no excuse in terms of planning, infact IIRC we were in mid July when the signs were starting to get real and within a week rumours were too strong. We relied on good faith that he would be the first one to tell us but we definetly got mislead, cant help but think we were naive. We showed too much respect to our numero dieci and at the end we suffer.

Dortmund and Atletico have shown season in and season out that they already have replacements in mind for they key players and are quick in the market. In some cases they buy their replacements even before selling their player.

Last year we found ourselves in the same position when Vidal went. At the time we missed out on Allan but ironically we were linked with him well before Napoli bought him. Just saying...

I think that Midfield will really struggle in the CL. No physical presence at all in the MF.

And before anyone bring the barça Mf, totaly different style, barça don't sit back. They press the shit out of you and end up recovering the ball a few seconds later.
And their players offer tons of creativity and their passing game was unmatched.

Pogba and Vidal were unique because they offer both creativity and offensive contrbition along with tremendous defensive work ( Vidal ).

Both things our MF will definetely be lakcing if don't add a player with those traits.

Nah. Pretty sure Pogba was part of the initial plans for the season. Pjanic was an addition to an already good midfield that needed a spark of quality with Marchisio's ACL-injury, Asamoah/Khedira injury woes and the Africa Cup of Nations and of course the under par players like Hernanes.

That said: I'm quite confident Marotta's been working hard looking for a Pogba replacement, but failed in this quest. Probably down to a financial decision, where a player like Matuidi at this stage of the mercato is seen as too expensive in a simple cost/benefit-analysis.

We can't know for certain what's going [italian media is 90% percent], but the above for me is a qualified guess.

It's seems Manchester United are pushing hard to sign him. That's what I've been reading.
It doesnt suprise me, though they were linked with him last season too. Valencia has been really good for them, Fabinho would give them a whole new dimension. Hope he doesnt end up there.

Cuadrado loan + obligation to buy after a certain number of games. Should be announced today.

Fabinho - he is good but I dont know what all the fuss is about..
As for Licht - its bad news - I see him going to PSG.. I heard Inter wants him - If thats the case maybe a swap with Brozovic?
fabinho = il nuovo caceres, apparently without all the fuckups (fucking underage girls, dui, too much injuries)

i wouldn't let any of our player go to inter, save for hernanes. licht would be a starter for them, i wouldn't strengthen them in any ways.

So based on your "contacts" its likely to be Witsel and Cuadrado in. Hernanes and Lichsteiner out?

Would we try to get another right back? I just wonder that if we did at any stage revert to a back 4, there would be no back up for Alves unless Benatia, Barzagli or someone else fills in.

I think Raiola said interview recently that Pogba decided to leave sometime after euro finals. At that point Krychowiak to PSG was already done.
And that turd is a very honest and reliable person.Whatever he says is true.Like a mother Theresa is that fat shit.
