Definitely but they are very different players. I'd prefer Biglia as vice DM but there's no reason to panic I guess. Witsel as DM frees up Pjanic and Lemina from the DM position which is good. Matuidi would play as LCM mostly so he wouldn't solve too much for us.

The way I see it:
Khedira/Lemina - Marchisio/Witsel - Pjanic/Asamoah

it's decent but still a huge downgrade to what we once had. No point in living in the past but this midfield in practice certainly lacks in quality mostly because of injuries (too many uncertainties).

I'm very far from being a fan but Witsel is definitely better than Hernanes. Pjanic is wasted as DM, he should play closer to the goal and Lemina suffers there a lot.

I'm super excited. By the end of this mercato we will have 7 CMs better than Pogba.

Marchisio, Pjanic, Khedira, Witsel, Hernanes, Asamoah, Lemina are all upgrades on Pogba.

Only Sturaru is a downgrade. Damn you Beppe. Y u do dis?

i dont think Witsel is a DM, thats atleast what i gather from what the Belgians here say about him.

maybe try him out, see how it goes. but he doesent strike me as a player that can play that role on a high level from the little ive seen of him. Pjanic certainly fits the role better, but i hope its Marchisio that will play majority of the games there

Moutinho would be good actually, even though i read from someone here that he regressed last season or 2 and he also didnt look convincing for Portugal at the Euro.
