Ruben neves has around 40m release clause but I guess Porto might let him loose for 35m. Too expensive for someone so young but his been so good for Porto I think 25-30 max should do. We do take up a number of risks if we buy him, one of which I think will be he will take a while settling in, something clearly we can't afford.

His not a box to box but more like the one who plays well in DM role shields the ball, calm good technique and a nice range of passing. Still young, but very mature on the pitch... can't say much off it.
Is he good enough?

Neves is the type of mid we should be going after, not matuidi. I would never start matuidi over a fit asamoah. Juve should buy a young playmaker with an upside. Neves fits the bill. We have enough defensive types.

He is, liga nos standards are not mile far from serie A and is doing really well in the league. His fastracked his way into the first team few seasons ago and since a regular starter and club captain at just 19 year old. He was a regular at all youth levels for Portugal too. Undoubtedly a star in the making. I've seen him play about 4-5 times thanks to bt sport liga nos coverage and didn't know how young he actually was until later. Watched second half of Porto last night and he looked good. Often spraying the ball to the wingers and keeping his position every time estoril tried pulling a counter attack. Gotta say the game reminded me of our first half against fiorentina. Anyway I would take him but we will have to be patient if we're expecting him to do wonders straight away.

Neves is far from a play maker, if you mean by the sort who plays the killer pass then no. Probably a water carrier. There's been a number of comparisons to busquets, redondo, sousa.

Tuttosport mentioning Ruben Neves
:tuttosport: :tuttosport: :tuttosport: Yes please.

That kid looks really, really good. On Youtube, I mean, so I have no idea of his true ability. But he does look very impressive.

Reported release clause is 40 million euros.
Release Clause :tuttosport: :tuttosport: :tuttosport: 40 Million for a guy who could be worth 80+ in a couple of years is nothing. Do it Beppe.

You know something, don't you? :D

A young Moutinho but with more upside and talent.

:tuttosport:=

But he will be more expensive than hector. The dragao absolutely love him and with him so young I doubt that we would pay a big price for him. Hector is what we need to give a better attacking dimension but Ruben is an outstanding talent already a captain at such a young age.
He isn't worth 40 million, probably 25 million at present, but it's an inflated market, we are dealing with Porto, and he is a very gifted young prospect, so 30 million + bonuses should do it. Don't forget Bayern paid 40 + 40 for Sanches, who is only 18 years old.

Do you think he is comparable to Sanchez in terms of talent?
Sanchez is already worth the 40M and it will double itself in a few years! tremendous talent!

Different types of players. Think of Ruben Neves as a hybrid box to box. He has great passing and vision, but is also willing to do the dirty work. He isn't as dynamic or explosive as Sanches, but he is more creative.

I'd get both, and sell one for 70+ in a few years :D

Tielemans's growth has stagnated according to some, but perhaps he just needs a new challenge.

Vieira like?
Vieira was a beast in his prime. Ruben is more of the elegant and composed on the ball type of player. Think Paul Scholes, but not as dynamic or not as much of a goal scoring thereat as Scholes was.

Ruben Neves will fit us. I hope he is the surprise signing mentioned before. He also dont play in CL Match against Roma (clue which he will go?)

Luan will also good if Gabigol is top expensive
