Lukaku is a player with specific abilities, but he is very low intelligence, and i cant stand that in players when it comes to juventus, or when people overrate them, cause they take a certain situation to work. You'll recall me hating ALOT on Ogbonna, but now saying "he's well suited to EPL". Thats not nececcerely bashing EPL, its kinda what i actually mean.
I'm with you on the structure thing, especially cause that reason. Allow me to list our big issues and how to fix them :
Defence has great individuals but cannot organise itself and cannot play as a unit at all. Whether Kompany plays or not.
ALl players including him, are very good individually and in duels. But they cannot controll space. Kompany is fantastic at stepping out and anticipating attackers in duels, but not in organising the defence and controlling the space.
In fact, no one in the belgian team can these days, and no one at City does aswel.
Recall when 14 years ago we had Staelens and De Boeck as central defence versus 2002 brazil ? When they had a very hard game and should be down at halftime but Wilmots goal (yes, the current coach people) got ruled out incorrectly ?
They were exceptionally good at organising and positionning.
Do we need this ? No, not nececcarely. You need a coach who has a clear tactical plan, and drills players to execute it.
We play like shit with the ball but we dont have a playmaking cm
Quite true. But we have talent elsewere.
Belgium needs a well fleshed out gameplan and runlines . Off the ball instructions. Specific positionning and passing instructions for the advanced CM/CAM/SS. Its the coach's duty.
Hazard doesnt play well
Result of the above. Hazard shouldnt be deep in the play doing passes. He should be keeping it wide and look to move in spaces. Its the fullback, close cm, am/ss/st duty to find him there.
You fix this by having a well fleshed out gameplan. Its on the coach

Yeah. Dont expect him to make combinations. If we have a well fleshed out gameplan, and the wide players (hazard/carrasco/mertens/de bruyne(id play him cam)) are beeing dangerous and there is alot of movement, this changes entirely.
The goal of the entire team, is to play Lukaku into space, have wingers make actions and play it trough in the box or cross early/byline, have the cam send him into space. Lukaku should be on the back of the defence stretching the play (think morata vs bayern), and heading off long balls, but mostly seeking to burst into space where he is difficult to take down.
See, belgium has all it needs to do well. We need a tactical drill and setup for the defence cause it lacks an organiser. It needs a gameplan to make the midfield work. It needs instructions to create space for the wingers. And if these two works, you can start using the good things about Lukaku.
