Matic isn't the level Juventus should be after at all, overrated player. Almost every time he comes up against a higher level midfielder he goes missing, can think of numerous times it has happened even when that garbage Chelsea team won the Premier League last season.

This. Matic is very-very limited or at least they use him like this in Chelsea, ffs they played Mikel instead of him in some important games.

People need to ignore this anomaly season, everyone but Willian played in lesser level, some more then others, and most had disciplinary or motivation problems. And more importantly Mikel is a favourite of Hiddink. Coincidentally last time Mikel had starting spot was also last time Hiddink coached Chelsea.

Matic was class DM in all the previous seasons. Top ball winner and if given more responsibility handles it well since he is deceptively good going forward or distributing. Pretty much amongst the best in his holding position with Marchisio and Busquets.

I don't see us signing him at all, but defenitely a quality midfielder.

I'm not counting Matic strolling about the pitch looking uninterested for almost the entire season as an "anomaly". Its a bad look if you've given up caring.

You'd expect this tall, tough looking player to impose himself in games (especially against less physical players like Verratti, as an example) but he might as well have not been there some of the time. England has weak midfielders across the league and he still didn't steal the show when Chelsea won, he's so bland and uninteresting and looks lost when lined up against good players. Luckily I've seen plenty of great midfielders in the last few years of this club to know what quality looks like, Juve are above buying Matic and expecting him to raise the level of this squad. He wouldn't touch the current starting midfield if all three were fit.

Hiddink plays Mikel because he is defensively more disciplined and stays in his position. With Fabregas in the midfield and Matic at times lacking defensive discipline Chelsea were found out at the start of the season and conceded loads of goals. You just can't leave Fabregas covering in front of the defense alone for any moment in the game.

Matic is a brilliant player when on form and used properly but he has never played Marchisio's position that I can recall because as I mentioned he lacks the tactical awareness and discipline to play there. Other notable things are that he is completely one footed (even more than Dybala) and he has a tendency to keep the ball for too long which leads to him finding himself in difficult situations at times.

this. ~20 chelsea players didn't just forget last summer how to play this game.

just remember the dark secco-blanc-ferrara/delneri years: chiellini, marchisio, del piero, bonucci, even barza and buffon had weaker seasons at juventus.

matic is a useful midfielder. we're not getting him though.

Real get: Morata, 1st option on Pogba in the future.
We get: James, Kovacic

I actually wouldn't mind giving them first option on Pogba at all. If there is one thing Real do well is pay well. I mean, that is the same team that paid 80m for James and 100m for Bale. We'd could realistically get north of 100m for him.

You sound like some EPL fan. You probably don't know shit about football. And this is all I have to say about Matic.
Not an EPL fan.Relative, according to you and compared to you... I guess. Thanks you've already said too much. Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent.

Matic better than Marchisio defensively :shifty: Matic has been a slalom pole this season and doesn't even start for Chelsea who rather play Mikel at this point. There is no way that Matic would start over a fit Marchisio. He would need to battle with Khedira for a place in the side and at the moment Khedira is much better. If Matic finds his 2014/2015 form he would be useful as a box to box midfielder.
Matic is much stronger and better balanced than Marchisio ever was. He doesn't have the tactical discipline and probably footballing brain of Marchisio, but he has 3 years in Italy to improve that. Technique wise I'd say they are on par. If Matic is able to sponge on Italian footballing culture he has a huge ceiling as a DM, much higher than Marchisio. Not to mention we should all prepare for the possibility of a different Marchisio post-injury.
