For me, raise the quality means keep those AND buy quality. And buying quality translates into keeping those. Else they'll follow Vidal's example and leave. There is no good in keeping unhappy players cause the have a contract. Nor you can expect everyone to be as loyal as Del, Buffon etc. Buffon has no CL to his name and he's the best keeper ever. That's a huge sacrifice.
This is painful, but you cant keep world class players/coaches without being a world class team. You can't keep the best talent of this generation without being the best team around. Else its a mismatch. It's like those very beautiful women with some awful guy that none understands why they are together (a big wallet, a big $#@!, or simply love).
