Roma are in negotiations with Bologna for want-away midfielder Amadou Diawara, offering a €5m loan with €10m option to buy.

Why are we doing it??? He is certainly class and is quite cheap despite being great and probably future WC player!
I really think we should get this kid - He is going to explode next season at Roma or at any club he will go to!
Pogba, Pjanić, Khedira, Marchisio, Lemina, Mandragora, Diawara

Out: Asamoah, Sturaro, Pereyra, Hernanes

Looks like an overkill and Diawara wouldn't play enough. Maybe if we sell Lemina as well, there would be more room for him. He'll prolly pick Roma for this reason.

We all like Pogba and like him to stay but honestly he is right! Higuain has demonstrated he could make the difference while we have Pjanic so even if Herrera isnt as great as Pogba it would be an improvement over last season (overall)!
He isn't right. He's gone senile.

Obviously Herrera isnt as good as Pogba but Herrera Pjanic and Higuain is better than Pogba alone
Since we have a strong midfielder in Pjanic we can get another strong midfielder like Herrera and then an attacker will be a better choice than a midfielder who will leave us next season anyway...

So is a team with this:

Midfield: Pogba, Marchisio, Khedira, Pjanic, Asamoah, Lemina, Sturaro, Pereyra
Attack: Mario, Zaza Dybala, Pjaca

Better than a team with:

Midfield: Herrera, Marchisio, Khedira, Pjanic, Asamoah, Lemina, Sturaro, Pereyra
Attack: Higuain, Mario, Zaza, Dybala, Pjaca

??

Zaza/Mario wouldnt be there if we sign Higuain, and yes a team with Pogba IS better.

I like Herrera, but he is half the player Pogba is so signing him and Higuain isnt excuse for the stupidity of selling Labile :p

Herrera is class and Higuain would be massive for us, but Moggi needs to stfu, he talks so much shit last decade its unreal.
+ its easy to say this from the sideline, no pressure involved

How many goals do you recon for Mandzukic now with Pjanic, Pogba, Sandro, Alves and Dybala to feed ?

Plenty, just a few more then last season, if he remembers he is an attacker?

Mandzukic rarely misses chances, his problem is he doesnt put himself in position to take many, its like he needs to be reminded thats his primary job. He could go couple months with us where he does all the work on the pitch but forgets he is supposed to be in the box at the right time. Allegri even said this a few times. Also just watched a euro with him where I think he had like 3 shots in as many games? Ridicolous, everyone in Croatia chiming in offensively except the one player thats supposed to be the focal point of the attack.

Moggi is a dinosaur and doesn't understand Pogba's importance BEYOND the football pitch
Nor does he understand his importance on it when he suggests he should be sold. But he didndt sign Pogba for free, so ofcourse he wont have much positive things to say.

So the coach has some work to do, but the potential is there

Aside from the fact that Pogba is currently the best midfielder in the world, you're neglecting that he's among the most popular athletes and we need players of his profile here to get more global apeal. Top club needs to retain the very best players around and improve further. Selling Pogba, thus weakening our midfield by quite a bit, to bring a player that has appaling CL record seems silly.

This I do not agree with. His tools are world class, and he has potential to be the best, but I can think of multiple players that are more effective than Pogba and more consistent game to game, Verratti being one of them.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to retain him to see what he is like if he reaches his potential.

21 goals & assists beg to differ. Is there better b2b mid, more effective than this? Doubt it. What Veratti does is commendable, he keeps the midfield ticking, putting in hard work, but he isn't a game changer. He can't deliver a killer ball, score from 20-30 metres, dribble past 2-3 players.

You make good points, but I'd argue that he puts up these numbers despite his lack of consistency. He makes a lot of mistakes, and mentally his game is not there yet. His talent, power is unmatched, and Verratti cannot even hope to do some of the the things Pogba does. That being said, Verratti is more effective at the moment, due to how well rounded his game is, and how consistent he is. I'd also argue Modric is better. Neither have Pogba's ability or potential, but neither make the sort of regular mistakes Pogba makes or show the same amount of inconsistency.

As I said, I do think Pogba can be the best, but he needs to remove his faults before truly being the best.
