we need a real Ligue 1 watcher to really tell us how good Michy is? @Fred ?
This might be a bit late; I wasn't on the forums for a while.

He certainly has ability; and he's young so he has a lot of room for improvement. For me though he is still too raw at this point, he loses the ball way too often and doesn't always make the best decisions; so he can be very frustrating. That being said, there's no doubt about his ability in the box, he's a very good finisher, and he's one that likes to play one twos around the box and does that well. He's also quite fast for someone of his size.

He's probably moving to Chelsea; I think they intend to keep him as a rotation and back up option for a couple of years to see how he develops, because IMO he is still not ready to start for a top side yet.

Mata, Pastore...ffs this is not 2012 anymore
So what? they are proven players.. plus it's not that bad to have talented rejects. we can't pay 10-15M salary to WC players, so having a combination of youngsters, veterans and talented guys who had an unlucky season or two is not all bad.

its not modern football to play with 3 at the back. thats why Germany does it
Actually I am noticing that it is becoming somewhat of a semi trend. Germany used it yesterday, Wales a British team has been using it throughout the tournament. B. Dortmund experimented with a back three in a few games last season.

The reality of it is that all these teams play 5 at the back. Sure, they're somewhat offensive fullbacks usually, but to call it a 3-5-2 is really a euphemism for a 5-3-2 in most cases. It's like when we do it with Evra and Lichtsteiner, I'm sorry but they're just extra defenders.

Ya, true. I never understood why it is so widely called 3 in the back instead of 5. Especially because the wingbacks should really be considered more closer to fullbacks than they are to wingers. I use it, because that is how it is widely known, not due to conviction.

whats overrated about Lemina?
Practically everything apart from his age..
His isnt great at anything - He is just another good player who will never be a great one IMO
As a sub he isnt bad to have but he isnt superb either...

Kante is actually a very good player apart for 2 things - His heading ability could be better and his passing ability isnt the best!
If you are using Kante as an all around midfielder you better go for other midfielders but if you want to give freedom to both Pogba and Pjanic while also have someone to push your team forward Kante fits like a glove!

Lemina can fit whatever formation we are talking about but he wouldnt excel at any of these formations...

Thats why Kante for Lemina is quite a good move

I guess it's because they offer slightly more than usual defenders in terms of going forward. But people see it as an offensive system, which is wrong. It is in fact almost always defensive and destructive. Italy for example definitely got it right, but you can't call it constructive football. It's the kind you should play if you lack the quality to do better. I was sort of disappointed with Germany because they adapted tbh.

Now that Morata has left and assuming the possibility that perhaps Zaza is sold, it could therefore mean we would be after 2 strikers.

What would be your gut feel as to whom they would be remembering that the combined transfer fee of the 2 players is around 50m.

so like i thought, you underrate Lemina but overrate Kante. classic case of grass is always greener in the neighbors garden

Germany used it few more times i noticed, not just yesterday. its a great formation if you can execute it well, its no wonder more teams try to have it as an option

Lemina was pretty surprise when he played. Very solid displays when was on the pitch and maybe he can become very good player. But dont know does Allegri trust him so much that Lemina get enough minutes for his progress.

Lemina lacks tactical awareness, positioning, iirc even Max said it in one of the interviews. And this stuff you mainly learn on training. It's always better to play of course, but if Mario gonna work hard I see him benching Khedira at some point.
