Wow, Lampard most be so special...I mean he plays in a 5-MAN-MIDFIELD!! He has almost no responisibilty, I'd like to see him at a "small" club, where it is vital NOT to lose the ball...
You mean like West Ham? :) Him leaving there signalled the beginning of the end. There's no denying, he's a quality player. I just can't let a comment like "most complete player in the world" go unpunished.

at the moment he is. nedved has lot his pace. he was for several years(lazio and juve) the most complete but the years go by and the mourinho factor changes many things.

Is still disagree. There's a lot more to being a great midfielder than decent passing and a lot of shooting. Heck, there's a lot more to being a fantasista than that! Nedved has more than just a great shot and runs into the box. I really would question Lampard's ability to make play. Compare his passing to Zidane, Beckham, Veron, Gerrard etc. There's no vision, little variety.

:D

True, but the "Hammers" werent so bad then, they had alot of quality players, it was there own fault what happened to them...
Yes. I've always felt that they went down because of three things: Di Canio missing most of the season through injury, Kanoute missing most of the season through injury and Joe Cole in central midfield. :) Of course there's more: Repka being rubbish, Roeder, inconsistancy from the likes of James, Carrick and Lomas... there was no end to the problems with that team.

he was 20 assists. enough to me. just because he´s not a dribbler like others doesn´t he´s a great passing player. he´s a"quick pass" player. something that most players can´t do.

but i respect your opinion. but let me say to you that nedved is the player that was more underrated since lazio times. he was always one of the top 3 worldwide since 1998. a legend.

not like cahill..........

I think it was a blessing in disguise about Di Canio! (Sorry, but I hate him, and will never admit he is a good player, FORZA ROMA...LAZIOMERDA!!)...Finished...

Its Roeders fault I believe, and WHAT ARE THEY DOING WITH PARDEW!!!

It's been a pleasure debating it with you.

Oh, I think you just did. :) He's earned that contempt.

What's wrong with Pardew?
Mikhail, please dont edit a quote of mine okay honey?

Whats right with him? Do you think "The Academy" should be where they are now in the Championship? I have no love for West Ham at all, but they were "apart" of the EPL, and the EPL isnt the same without them...Personally although he did well at Reading, I dont think Pardew is right for West Ham...(with my luck he'll now get them prompted and he'll go on to become a great coach...)

:p Okely dokely.

I don't know him at all. He seems to have stablised them though and they're in with a shout of a playoff place yet.

Yeah, they're missed. Bolton and Fulham aren't quite the same thing, are they? I'm sure they'll rise again. Just give them time - the Championship is a bit of a melting pot, really hell to get out of.

Personally although he did well at Reading, I dont think Pardew is right for West Ham...(with my luck he'll now get them prompted and he'll go on to become a great coach...)
Any reason? And probably.:p

Well, you were wrong, he hasnt "stabilisted them", and if you asked 90% of West Ham fans they'd want rid of him as soon as they could, frankly they were idiots to let Harry Redknapp leave...

Yeah, I got nothing against Bolton or Fulham, but West Ham were like "special"...in Premiership terms...

Di Canio was a very good player at West Ham. He even scored some fantastic goals against manyoo. i was kinda sad when west ham went down, but i'll always treasure his goal in the fa cup that knocked out man utd. the same season that fergie tried to buy him, but was told by the board that di canio was too old. imagine oul' red nose's face at the next board meeting. hehehe

i totally agree mikhail. lampard is just a shooter, and a half decent passer.

The race for the 4th Champion's League spot hots up... here is an accessment...

APRIL 2

Liverpool: Bolton (H) - They inflicted the first league defeat on Rafael Benitez back in August. Their brand of long-ball high-tempo football will be just as difficult this time but the Reds will win.

Everton: West Brom (A) - Albion have improved of late and they recorded their first away win of the season last weekend, but the Toffees should still have too much quality for the Baggies. Everton win.

Standings: Everton 54 pts, Liverpool 50 pts

APRIL 9/10

Liverpool: Manchester City (A) - Liverpool won the Anfield clash between the clubs and usually do pretty well against City on their own ground. the Blues have little to play for so the Reds' greater desire will see them win.

Everton: Crystal Palace (H) - Despite battling against relegation, Palace have caused problems for every team they have played against. Everton won 3-1 at Selhurst Park in August, but their home form has not been brilliant. Palace to sneak a draw.

Standings: Everton 55 pts, Liverpool 53 pts

APRIL 16

Liverpool: Tottenham (H) - Liverpool drew at White Hart Lane in August but won there in December's Carling Cup tie. Anfield is not a happy hunting ground for Spurs, who have been treading water for a few weeks. Victory for Liverpool.

Everton: Arsenal (A) - Everton lost 4-1 at home to Arsenal on the opening day of the season. The result sparked dire predictions for the Goodison Park side and, although they have defied the doomsayers, they will still lose at Highbury.

Standings: Liverpool 56 pts, Everton 55 pts.

APRIL 20

Portsmouth (A) - Pompey drew at Anfield and Liverpool were shocking at Fratton Park last season. On their home turf, the Hampshire side can be cussed opponents and Liverpool could again drop points on the south coast. A draw for the Anfield men.

Manchester United (H) - The difference between the top three and the rest was underlined by the FA Cup tie at Goodison in January when Everton were outclassed by Sir Alex Ferguson's side who will repeat that win in the league.

Standings: Liverpool 57 pts, Everton 55 pts.

APRIL 23

Liverpool: Crystal Palace (A) - As with Everton, Liverpool will find Iain Dowie's side tough opponents, especially at Selhurst Park. A surprise result could be on the cards but Liverpool should have the quality to better the home side. Three points for Rafael Benitez.

Everton: Birmingham (H) - Everton won at St Andrews in November thanks to a Thomas Gravesen goal. The big Dane has departed for the Bernabeu but the Toffees are still a better side than Steve Bruce's outfit. Win for Everton.

Standings: Liverpool 60 pts, Everton 58 pts.

APRIL 30

Liverpool: Middlesbrough (H) - Liverpool lost 2-0 at the Riverside in November in one of their poorest displays of the season. They beat Boro at home in the Carling Cup but, with the visitors likely to still be chasing a UEFA Cup place, Liverpool will have to settle for a draw this time.

Everton: Fulham (A) - An entertaining rivalry has grown between these two teams in recent seasons, although the FA have not always been amused. Everton won 1-0 at Craven Cottage in November and will repeat that result at home but will still be behind the Reds on goal difference.

Standings: Liverpool 61 pts, Everton 61 pts.

MAY 7

Liverpool: Arsenal (A) - Liverpool might be among the best of the rest but they are still some way behind Arsenal. However, if the FA Cup final is still a distraction for the Gunners, Liverpool will earn a point.

Everton: Newcastle (H) - The Magpies are another team who could have cup matters on their mind on this day. That said, they are an increasingly consistent team under Souness, who will delight in taking three points away from Goodison.

Standings: Liverpool 62 pts, Everton 61 pts.

MAY 15

Liverpool: Aston Villa (H) - Liverpool lost at Villa Park recently but David O'Leary's side appear to have settled for midtable mediocrity already so are unlikely to provide much opposition in May. Win for Liverpool.

Everton: Bolton (A) - A heartbreaking day for Everton. Needing Liverpool to drop points and a win at the Reebok Stadium, the Toffees will find both results going against them. Bolton's battlers will eke out a point in revenge for their 3-2 defeat at Goodison.

Final standings: Liverpool 65 pts, Everton 62 pts.

Verdict: A return to the Champions League for Liverpool, Everton to settle for the UEFA Cup.

Birmingham tie up Pennant
Birmingham are close to agreeing a £3million deal with Arsenal to tie up the permanent transfer of winger Jermaine Pennant, who is expected to be released from prison at the end of next week.

Blues will pay an initial fee of around £500,000 with the remainder of the package depending on appearances and success-related incentives.

Pennant is set to be allowed out on parole mid-way through a three month sentence for drink-driving offences.

City boss Steve Bruce put his faith in Pennant by bringing him to St Andrews during the January transfer window when he knew a custodial sentence was a possibility.

Bruce said: 'Our managing director Karren Brady has virtually done a deal for Jermaine and the next step is to agree terms with the player.

'We've said from the minute he came here that we would like to make the deal permanent and we've seen how good a player Jermaine is in the few games he has played for us.'

Bruce reiterated Blues' plan to keep Pennant - who will be electronically tagged for the first weeks after his release - on the straight and narrow.

He said: 'I think he appreciates that there is someone who is willing to try and help him rather than just wash their hands of him. Sometimes people need help and education rather than just being battered.

'Before the sentence we got Jermaine a flat up here, we got him away from the distractions of London and we had someone with him for the best part of every day. His girlfriend was playing a big part in that too.

'We will do everything we can to try and put and keep him on the straight and narrow. He's done wrong and we've all done stupid things when we were younger and he admits that now .

'He has had to accept his punishment because he did wrong. He realises he has been stupid but as long as he learns from it, that is the main thing.

'He has got the chance now to get his life back in order. He has been here a few weeks and he has been very good and I hope that continues for the next five or six years.

'Then we will see the best of him. He is a very good player and he can be a major asset to Birmingham.'

c'mon Nicole Cahill better than Lampard,i mean sure Cahill is a great player with a great future, but Lampard is one of the strongest midfielders around.its almost a crime to compare them both.
