Wrap: Arsenal Enter The Record Books

Arsenal have entered the record books after registering their 43rd consecutive unbeaten match in the top flight.
They did so in stunning style as they cruised to a 3-0 victory at home to Blackburn to go to the top of the Premiership after three wins out of three.

Blackburn frustrated the Gunners in the first half, but soon after the break Thierry Henry broke the deadlock and it wasn't long after when Gilberto headed home to confirm their place in history. Jose Antonio Reyes wrapped up the victory later in the second half to end Nottingham Forest' 26-year-long record.

Also in the Premiership this evening there was more disappointment for crisis club Newcastle United after they threw away a 2-0 lead at home to Norwich and were forced to settle for just one point, which left the Toon Army furious yet again.

Southampton, who have also endured a turbulent week, lost 2-1 at home to Bolton, while Aston Villa slumped to a shocking 3-0 defeat at Charlton.

Middlesbrough bounced back from their collapse against Arsenal to win 2-0 at Fulham and finally, Tottenham drew 1-1 at West Brom to preserve both teams unbeaten starts to the season.

The thing with thier unbeaton record is that they have played near perfect football all the time, possibly the best side i have ever seen in terms of sheer team skill.

Player of midweek - Francis Jeffers

Jeffers announced his arrival to Charlton with two fine goals in his first start for his new club. The former Arsenal star showed all his predatory skills with a great header for his first and then a cool finish for his second as Charlton beat Aston Villa 3-0.

Goal of midweek - Didier Drogba

Britain's most expensive striker got off the mark for the season with a brilliant header in the win over Crystal Palace on Tuesday. The Ivory Coast ace rose like a salmon to head home Celestine Babayaro's cross with a bullet header to set Chelsea on their way to victory.

Save of midweek - Brad Friedel

The Blackburn keeper endured a busy night at Highbury as Arsenal set a new record of 43 games unbeaten. The American produced his best save of the night in denying Thierry Henry as he raced clear on goal with a superb save low down to the left from 12 yards.

Pass of midweek - Fabregas Cesc

The young Spaniard is really making a name for himself at Arsenal and he continued his fine start to the season with another superb performance against Blackburn. Cesc produced a superb pass to Dennis Bergkamp in the build-up to Thierry Henry's opener and then bettered that with a sublime crossfield pass to Lauren to set up another Arsenal attack.

Miss of midweek - Mattias Jonson

The Swedish international is still probably wondering how he has not scored his first goal for Norwich. Jonson somehow failed to head home from four yards, heading his effort against the top of the crossbar when it seemed easier to score.

Error of midweek - Shay Given

The Republic of Ireland international made an uncharacterisitc mistake in his side's 2-2 draw with Norwich. Given seemed to have David Bentley's long-range shot well covered, but he appeared to let it slip under his body and into the net to give Norwich a lifeline.

Moment of midweek - Arsenal celebrations

What else can it be but Arsenal's remarkable record breaking run of going 43 games unbeaten? The irrepressible Gunners broke Nottingham Forest's record of the late 70s of 42 games unbeaten with a comprenhensive 3-0 victory over Blackburn to set them apart from any other team in the land.

I will never forget this.

But we've made it to the CL Finals that year by beating Real Madrid (who kicked MU's ass)

So, it doesn't matter how you play at the group stage.

Furthermore, loosing on a "lottery" means absolutely nothing to me. That season Juventus FC has been the strongest football club in the world.
