Arsenal would suck in Italy, Arsenal play 1-D football, no plan b at all, thats why they play bad in Europe, Euro teams play counter-attacking football at Highbury, and they destory them (Inter 3-0 Arsenal, although Inter got stuffed at San Siro). Its just Premiership teams dont realise that. Fact is, when people start realising Arsenal's weakness, they are finished!

thats not what i'm saying,i'm saying that if Arsenal plays in the serie a,genrally the whol club would be different, they might dominate the league, they might be in mid table, they might even play in serie b.who knows.
Oh come on Freddy, that's a weak argument. You're basically saying that if Arsenal were in Serie A, they wouldn't be Arsenal, so they might play well...

for the matter i dont think the real juventus would stand a chance to be in the first 3 at the EPl,they probably cant handle the pace of the game there.
What have you been smoking my friend? Are you honestly trying to tell me that Juve would need a last minute equaliser against Southampton, and that we'd get embarassed 2-0 against Portsmouth?

You say that we couldn't handle the pace of the game, but do you really think that we'd be on our heels for an entire match whilst the fearsome Crystal Palace attack us at lightning speed?

Does it not occur to you that Juve (and Italian teams in general) know how to dictate the pace of a match? I honestly can't see the likes of Ronaldo and Reyes running at us at full speed while Thuram and Cannavaro watch in awe and despair. Surely they'd stamp their authority on the match and frustrate players who are so used to prancing past defenders.

Take a look at the CL semifinal against Real for example. Everyone thought we'd get trashed and that Real's fast-paced attacking football would be too much for us. What actually happened in the match? Our solid defence shut down their attacking plays and we took our own brand of football to the Spaniards, dare I say winning comfortably.

If we can do it against Real, we can do it against Norwich City.

if arsenal plays in italy, i don't think they can handle the solid and tight defence from the entire league teams.

:thumb: grays post. The all mighty gunners need to win the CL or even make it to the final 1st before anyone starts calling them no.1. I feel Chelseas style of play gives them a better chance of Euro glory than Arsenal.

i actually agree with you there(the bolded part),but its ridiculous to say that they'd suck in Italy when we've all seen Arsenal kicking italian team's asses every time they meet.

Santini Resigns!

Jacques Santini has shockingly resigned as manager of Tottenham after just four months in charge at White Hart Lane.
The former French coach has cited "personal reasons" as his explanation for his surprise decision, which leaves the North London club shell-shocked.

Life under Santini started well for Spurs, although results have disappointed in the last month. However, his loss will come as a huge blow for the club, who spent nine months looking for a new coach before they appointed him in the summer.

Santini issued the following statement on Spurs' official website: "My time at Tottenham has been memorable and it is with deep regret that I take my leave. Private issues in my personal life have arisen which caused my decision.

"I have therefore requested to return to France. I very much hope that the wonderful fans will respect my decision. I should like to thank Frank Arnesen and Daniel Levy for their understanding. I wish the Club and the supporters all the best for the season."

The clubs Sporting Director, Frank Arnesen, added, "We are obviously disappointed that Jacques is leaving us. We fully respect his decision. I can assure you that the Club will act swiftly to minimise the impact of Jacques’ departure.

"Our priority is to ensure that this season’s performance remains unaffected by this move. I shall make a further statement on Monday clarifying our position. We wish Jacques well."

Dutchman Martin Jol will take charge of the team for Saturday's Premiership match with Chalrton.

My man Fred, how many times, since the European Championships began, have English teams won either the Champions League or the UEFA Cup?

THEN ask yourself how many times Italian teams have won them, if the ratio does not exceed 234:1, I will re-sole your boots.

Oh please, we can take care of teams like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona in the Champions' League, but when we come to England we would stand back in shock and awe against the likes of Bolton Wanderers? Thats laughable.

What are you going to use as an arguement next Freddy? If Arsenal had different players and tactics they would win the Champions' League? :howler:

untill Juve beats Manchester, I would be careful what you say. Arsenal is a team designed for the EPL, and Wenger has done an excellent job of optimising the team, as shown by their record in the epl over the last couple years. obviously, the epl game is very different from the Champions League game-that's why Arsenal haven't done so well this year, while they have been extremely strong in the epl. it takes an extremely well rounded team to win both in europe and in their home league, and not many teams are like that. Barcelona, both Milans, etc are excellent both in there leagues and in europe-and they were built to be like that. Arsenal was built for the purpose of winning the epl away from manu, which was accomplished. they are not built for europe though. so while they should be admired for their success in the EPL, they cannot be considered as a truly excellent team until they succeed in europe.

but that's a really poor excuse. You say that Arsenal was 'built' for winning in the Premier League, but the way I see it, every football team is built to win football matches, but Arsenal just weren't built to be good enough to beat the best teams in Europe (or should I say, mediocre European opposition).

It's true that Arsenal's counter-attacking tactics don't suit CL football, but to say that Wenger knew that they'd be so shite in Europe but went ahead with his plan because he knew they'd succeed in England is a bit of a copout, don't you think?
