more wheeling and dealing in the premiership:

Arsenal seal £100m Emirates deal

Arsenal's new home at Ashburton Grove will be known as the Emirates Stadium for the next 15 years after they agreed a £100million deal with Emirates Airlines.

The company will also be the Gunners' shirt sponsor for eight years starting in the 2006-07 season when the club start life at their new ground.

The agreement was signed on Tuesday at Highbury by Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood and Maurice Flanagan, Emirates vice-chairman and group president.

Keith Edelman, managing director of Arsenal, said: 'The sheer size and scale of this deal is an amazing opportunity for Arsenal. We are delighted to have Emirates as our partner and sponsor.'

Emirates are currently shirt sponsors of Arsenal's London rivals Chelsea, but that deal expires at the end of the current season.

Edelman added on the club's official website www.arsenal.com: 'Emirates is a quality airline and an established global brand, with a proven track record in football and sport sponsorship.

'This long-term association is an excellent opportunity for both of us.

'It will help Arsenal reach new markets and build on our existing fan base across the world, thanks in no small part to the airline's global route network. We are grateful to Emirates for its faith in us and look forward to working with them.'

Emirates Airlines chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum hopes the tie-up will boost the popularity of the sport in the United Arab Emirates still further.

'This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sponsor such a major new stadium and club, and represents a win-win partnership for both Emirates and Arsenal,' Sheikh Ahmed said.

'Arsenal Football Club has proved itself as one of the world's best, with an outstanding record in the English Premiership including, of course, being the current Premiership champions, and also remaining unbeaten for the last 48 league matches.

'Sports sponsorships provide an international platform to connect with our customers.

'We believe sponsorship is one of the best ways of getting closer to our customers. It allows us to share and support their interests and to build a personal relationship with them. There is no greater vehicle for this than through English football and we are looking forward to a long and very happy relationship with Arsenal.'

Emirates also sponsor match referees at Premiership and Football League level through an agreement with the Professional Game Match Official Limited (PGMOL) which runs until 2007.

Yeah, I read this in the news.

Not sure how smart of a move though that was for Emirates.

Arsenal Fc ,,,, my view

first of all i don't need a silly kid to question if i am a fan of juve

Arsenal is a great team and let us be honest here they have the most beautiful display attacking style football ,,

is that enough ?!

No for sure , playing beatiful game does not mean that u will always win and keeping clean sheets aren't thier habbit

defending ? average

the brightest thing about arsenal is Arsne wenger

great manager who can get everthing possible from his players ,, his 4-4-2 style is uniqe they attack with 5-6 players in each attacking chance they don't need strickers

the players :

jens leahman : i think chementi is better than him

DEFENCE:

Lauren : weakest link in the defence but still commited to the game good overlaps with poor defending i can't be suprised he is a midfielder transformed to a defender

cole : best left back in the world these days ,, he improved his defending , he scores goals he is the best overlapping defender ever , great connection with pires

toure : solid and commited ,, great in high balls , great marker wenger made world class defender from nothing .

cambpel : world class defender ( capello is big admirer of him )

the subs : very bad if any one injured o suspended arsenal defence is like a big joke ,, clichy is good prospect though

Midfeild :

luinberg : not that good in the right flanks he plays his best but he isn't a winger i believe he is somehow like nedved he is no winger

pires : great playmaker who can play free role and also on the left, natural goalscorer , with plenty of flair he is a piece of art ,but still not a winger

Vieira : the captin and the best defensive midfielder in the world , after bieng a captin he matured and he control the pace of the game with great personality .

gilberto : good but not world class

subs :

edu : good but slow , english game is so fast for him

pennant : english type winger who wenger does not like if he had his chance he will be england international i think he is better than shaun wright-phlips

Fabregas : the best youngster in the world , calm with vision and great passer ( moggi please try to sign him)

attack :

Henry : world class player wenger forced him to play as astricker and he sucseed in this role he is so fast but can not handle physical challenges like trezeguet or viery his magic in counter attacks and he loves the team and the manager very much .

bergkamp : old but class i think he must play only in thier home games .

Subs :

REyes : he is improving and he looks awsome i wonder how far he will go ,, new henry ? maybe better .

the rest : nothing to be mentiond they are not better than zalayeta

I have to disagree. Barcelona would take that award by far. They have the most creative players on any team known to football at the moment. They show it on the pitch as well.

Isn't that the truth.

Thats not all that unique. Haven't you ever heard of the Dutch National Team?

Highly exaggerated, straying from the truth. I highly doubt he's the best leftback now, and the best overlapping defender ever? Wow.

toure : solid and commited ,, great in high balls , great marker wenger made world class defender from nothing .

cambpel : world class defender ( capello is big admirer of him )
Exaggerated again. Kolo Toure is no Nesta, Samuel, Maldini, Puyol, or Ayala. He's not a world class defender by any stretch of the imagination.

Campbell is not bad, but Cannavaro is more of a world class defender than he is.

Fabregas : the best youngster in the world , calm with vision and great passer ( moggi please try to sign him)
First Rooney, now Fabregas?

rooney is is a stricker , fabregas is a midfielder so it is nonsense to compare ,, but let me tell u one thing if fabregas were english u would see him all over the news,,

and yes he is the best

Cole is most def' one of the best LBs in the world. He has improved all round and has become a great player. Zambro is better at crosses and going forward but Cole is a better tackler.

Fabre' wicked player. Arsenal are an exciting team to watch but I will seriously fall asleep:D when they play teams like Charlton, Norwich etc. The hell is so fun about watching them beat these minor teams with ease.

Because we've got shite at RM (although we're improved in that department with the arrival of Olivera). I think Zambro's attacking game is wasted because he's burdened with defensive duties, so if we sign a good LB and unleash Zambro down the right flank, I think he'd be even more unstoppable.

Of course he's the best LB in the world, but that's just because he's so ridiculously versatile. IMO he could be the best RM in the world. Hell, he could probably be the best RB, goalkeeper and playmaker in the world :D

Leave Zambro at LB, and just buy a RM instead! Like Ricardo Quarema at Sporting, foolish Barca brought him, never used him and then sold him back, he is like C. Ronaldo. They were team-mates at Sporting!

I guess there's no right or wrong answer when it comes to Zambro's position, everyone's got their personal preference. Fact is though, that he'll excel in any position we play him at :thumb:
